If you want a decent coffee without having to leave the South Eastern suburbs — this is where you wanna come. I was living with my BF in Mulgrave for a few months and went to this café every morning to get my coffee(yes, I’m a caffiene junkie). I miss it so much ever since we moved. Now we make a trip there on weekends for a yummy brunch, laid back atmosphere, friendly baristas and of course, good coffee :) It’s one of my favourite brekky/brunch joints in Melbourne. I have also been there for a drink on the odd evening and it is quite charming in the evenings too. P. S. When you go, just be prepared to wait for your food — after all, you’re in the suburbs. You saved yourself a 40 min drive by not going to the city so just sit tight and wait an extra 20 mins! ;-)

What a find in the middle of nowhere. I was out at the Hawks nest today to watch the Might Hawks train for Saturday’s big game. I was having a look around the grandstand and down the bottom left is this place called The Last Piece. Why did it catch my attention? Well, that’s easy, it had a La Marzocco and Sensory Lab coffee. This is the last thing I would expect to find as far out as Mulgrave. Such a surprise and such a pleasant one at that. This place definitely does do a good coffee and I can imagine that they’d make it even better on a day not as busy as today. There was Gold and Brown going everywhere and about 10 coffees being ordered every minute. This place is not just a café, but a full restaurant with a full bar. They’ve got a great selection of food and lots of awesome little snacks. I quite liked the gingerbread men in Hawks colours. What a great find!

This is the site of the old Stadium Café. It has changed owners and changed names, but still the amazing location at the old Waverley Park, which is still home to the Mighty Hawks. And still the slightly high prices for the food that is served, but I guess that’s due in part to its location. They roast their own coffee, which has a nice smooth blend. Most of the time I’ve had a good latte there, but the last time it was too weak and too much milk. I’ll be making sure next time I ask for a strong one. I’ve only had breakfast here and it’s been good. And on any given day you may just see some of the Hawks players hanging out here. ************** ok I just went to lunch here yesterday and it was fantastic. I had the calamari and it was cooked to perfection, light and tender. Came on a bed of rocket with cucumber and tomato. Coffee were good, but again, order them strong if you like it that way. We sat at the back of the restaurant which overlooks the oval and it’s just lovely. It can be noisy here when full as there is nothing to absorb the sound.
