I wouldn’t say I’m mad about Elixir given the hype that has come with it, but my coffee was quite good nonetheless so I can’t complain. I had a gruyère and antipasto toastie that was something I could have concocted at home. Service was«ok» as well. I would return here but I think there is a certain hype that’s associated with these guys that is an enigma to me.

So what happens when you work too far away from one of the best coffee shops in Perth? You buy their espresso coffee and make it yourself at work. No it’s not the same as if you were there, but it’s another experience. Their take home ground coffee is superb. We have the French press daily at work and love it. All the staff get involved and make a couple of batches each day.

Great coffee. Tried the steak sandwich which was dreary. Meat was tough and flavourless. No Maillard reaction.

Some of the best coffee in Perth… hands down. Friendly, non pretentious staff, chill environment to sit, and nice small selection of goodies should you be hungry. Bonus, they take call-ins for the rushed take away crowd.

Coffee heaven! Enter to the aroma of freshly ground and roasted coffee beans, wonderfully robust flat whites in sky blue coffee cups and saucers. Friendly and welcoming staff, outdoor seating that reminds me of old Italian men sitting on crates, enjoying an afternoon espresso in the Mediterranean sun. This may be a slight exaggeration, but this is a place where coffee is the specialty and the winner is you!

I have dreams about this place. Ever since i was dragged, kicking and screaming, away from Perth back to my native Scotland, i have had Australia cravings. and one of the places in Perth that i miss so dearly is here — one of those quite Aussie coffee hubs that the UK just don’t quite have yet.(i blame coffee chain over-saturation, but that’s another post). Food = yum. Coffee = mind blowing. such a great place to chill and watch the morning go by. They also started my love affair with those sky blue porcelain cups, where in the world can i buy these? Make the journey up the Stirling Highway, WELL worth it.

This place is fantastic. These guys are amazing at what they do, and what they do is make a great coffee. Try out the filtered drip coffee for something a bit different. The steak sandwich I had was really delicious and they’ve got a great selection of muffins and cakes as well. If you drop by on a saturday you might need to fight off a few cyclists, but what café in perth is without those lyrca clad road warriors. If you are heading down Stirling Highway check it out.

I had heard a lot about this place, and for some reason only went for the first time a few weeks ago. I don’t know why it took me so long to just listen to people and go, but I am making up for all that lost time, I have been back three times since my first visit. Some would say a little obsessive, seen as I have to go out of my way to get there. I can’t even begin to explain the coffee, now I have had some good coffees in my time, some of the best being in Italy. The coffees here are amazing, they live up to some of my best experiences. I don’t know what they do, although Claires description sound quite accurate ‘My Coffee seriously had taste of dark cherries and dark chocolate in it.’. I think now that must have been where all the extra flavours where coming from. I have to say for the coffee alone you have to go here, but they have so much more to offer the cakes are a joy. I had a muffin my first time, and it was sensational, just that perfect crunchy top and the light fluffy insides, yes please. The combo went down a treat. The second time I was so tempted to go the same thing again, but I went for a cake instead, now while it was really good, I had no idea what was install for me at visit number 3. On the third visit I ordered a brownie, my heart skipped a beat, I haven’t had a brownie like the since, well since never. A coffee and one of those delightful treats and you might as well just take me now, I have experienced

You’d be hard pressed to find anyone say a bad word about Elixir. It’s got one of the strongest reputations around — and deservedly so for its personable service, gorgeous cakes and pitch-perfect brew alone. The guys here are really lovely, they’ve got great chat to accompany great coffee — you want to start the day with them, it’s a treat. The space is stripped back with cool light fittings and a table of glass dome-covered baked goods. The muffins here are unbelievable, and I’m told the breakfasts are pretty special as well. A friendly space to hang out in, Elixir is a must-visit for folks in the Nedlands area.

I have come to realise something about myself of recent as I continue to review coffee shop after coffee shop. I am a coffee fanatic and not only a fanatic but quite the coffee snob. I’m not a big fan of overroasted coffee beans thrown into an espresso maker and given the title ‘good coffee’ just because it comes out of a gaggia machine. I would much rather have a pot of average ground coffee than a bad espresso that lingers on your teeth. Elixir, thank coffee god is pretty good, in fact it is great! I can’t even remember how I ended up here but it compares to some of the best in the area such as Black Swan in Claremont.

Tucked away just of Stirling Highway is whats home to indisputably the best coffee in the Western Suburbs. Elixir have great word of mouth, a strong reputation for producing a consistently superb brew. I first tried Elixir mid year, after hearing countless ravings of its brilliance. In appearance Elixir has high-ceilings, slick black walls, baby blue coffee cups, bronze fittings and glass domes filled with assorted sweet things. I ordered my usual after reading the coffee beans were claimed to have hints of cherry and chocolate. Without such finely attuned taste buds to recognize these subtle flavors, I predicted this connoisseur coffee would get lost on me. Well, I was pleasantly surprised. My Coffee seriously had taste of dark cherries and dark chocolate in it. It was SO, SO good. Elixir coffee is on another level. I am yet to try the brunch, but my eyes tell me it looks pretty delicious. An attractive looking fennel and fetta bruschetta came out of the kitchen on last visit. Unable to resists anything with dates in it I grabbed a Date and Walnut ball which would have been more accurately named ‘Coconut ball’. I love coconut though so I wasn’t complaining. The Elixir brownie is also worthy of praise. The fudginess factor is just right, and its got great, big white chocolate buttons set into the base. Marvelously yummy and impossible to refuse.
