I enjoyed the coffee and the dry banana bread. The service of the two older staff members was great. The young one needs to be trained in people skills. I will be back again soon.

The staff here are always happy to serve you. The coffee is great, the ambience is fantastic and the food tastes great(especially when you have a hang over). It’s in a great location with plenty of parking nearby. Very easy to get to. You can’t go wrong with this place.

Counter service café here where you order and pay at the counter but they bring the food to you at your table. Granola was excellent but could do with some milk which can be requested. I would have loved some addition of pepitas or sunflower seeds. Coffee was also very good but I expected it due to the stiff competition around here. They have free wifi, lots of outdoor seats and great service.

I come here every week. It’s a good space with wifi and outdoor seating. The Ecuadorian 70% hot chocolate is so good-better than any chocolate café. I also love the peppermint/liquorice and fennel tea. Chai latte is superb. What I like most is the genuinely friendly staff.

Sadly, Charlie Lovett is now two strikes for me. This is the second one in the area that I have been to a few times, and my main complaint is they are sloooowwww man. They need to hire more teenagers to run the place, or even better some adults, whatever. My observations are they are slow to clear the tables, slow to take the order, slow to bring the food, and seriously the toasted sandwich was like cardboard. On the plus, the coffee is good, some of the muffins and things look nice, but I am unlikely to be back, at least to this one.

Friendly service and great coffee. The single origin is a must try. With the introduction of BYO and some new décor it brings a seductive euro style café culture to a busy fast paced area. Keep it up guys. I’ll be back for sure.

Charlie Lovett is another fave of mine in Neutral Bay, coffee is good and they have a great selection of sandwiches and cakes all made on site. Its always buzzing and busy. The music at Charlie’s is great and the selection comes courtesy of the owner Shane, nothing better than hearing a long forgotten indie classic as you sip a flat white. Shane usually plays live on a Sunday between 2 and 5 another great way to while away the afternoon.

I thought I would be a Charlie Lovett lover. Nope. I took to Charlie Lovett one Saturday morning in search of a quick breakfast with a friend. We decided on Charlie Lovett really just to try somewhere new. I ordered a latte and a toasted breakfast sandwich. The coffee was OK but the sandwich tasted like something you would get from Starbucks. Maybe worse. It just had a sort of plastic taste — not the freshly baked taste that they promise. With so many other excellent choices in the area(firefly, central baking depot) I think I’ll be going elsewhere from now on.

Roomy with big open windows that let the outdoors indoors. Wonderful coffee, sandwiches and cakes especially gluten free delights. Plenty of rooms for prams outside and in and they provide highchairs. Charlie Lovett’s does straightforward service and food at its best. Thats why I am a big fan no complication.

I know it’s a chain but I love it. I think because it was the first coffee shop I went to when I moved to Sydney and I’d never heard of the brand. Also, the sweet Asian man behind the counter was super friendly and remembers my name. And another also… they are always happy to meet my super fussy order request for an extra-hot-weak-soy-mocha-in-a-cup(rather than a glass as most mocha’s are served… which gets cold quicker!) with-an-extra-cup-of-super-hot-water-on-the-side. A mouthful — and an annoying one at that — for most coffee counter people but these gents and ladies always serve it up with a smile. I also love Lovettes because they have WiFi, children’s hi chairs, chilled music(most of the time) and tall windows that let the sunshine in.

The recently redeveloped Grosvenor Street area of Neutral Bay is trying its best to become the North Shore version of Surry Hills and it’s pretty much succeeding. Charlie Lovetts are a small chain that feel like a more authentic version of Starbucks. Service is very perky and that makes me forgive them the fact that they look a little flustered behind the counter because they just look so goddam keen to do a great job! Bless. There’s a bit of a personal space issue for what is a pretty spacious café; display cabinet and serving counter seem to compete with the entrance for space but the large wooden tables look inviting. Lots of folks with laptops, the sound of grinding beans, inoffensive schmoozik — Yep, Starbucks. Coffee a little bitter but their range of chicken sandwiches are seriously scrummy. I love Jamaican Jerk chicken. There I said it out loud. Let the gifting of chicken begin.
