Got a take away from here and was pleasantly surprised. Around the Mosman/Cremorne/Neutral Bay area there is a Thai restaurant on practically every corner and most of them are mediocre at best and tend to offer exactly the same menu. But Ta Ta Thai offered something different; there were the expected dishes, of course, but also their own special dishes. The Yellow curry was the best I’ve ever tasted with its sweet, creamy, spicy sauce and chicken pieces that melt in your mouth. The Ta Ta seafood was also a treat, fresh and aromatic. And The curry puffs were perfect, sweet and crunchy. The only let down was the Crying Tiger which had a beautiful flavour but the meat itself was gristly. Had it not been for this Id have given a 5 star rating.

This is an unassuming restaurant on the corner of a suburban street in Neutral bay. I was not sure what to expect when we were seated. However, the food was simply stunning. I recommend the beef salad. It is a generous size and has some amazing flavours. My daughter got the satay stir fry which was really nice too. The food is not heavy, and it is full of fresh vegetables. It is BYO so bring a bottle of your own wine if you wish or sit back and let the staff fill your water glass every 10 minutes

A local favourite and it never fails to disappoint. It’s a cosy little restaurant near Neutral bay ferry wharf and it has a lot of charm. The food is always fresh and reliable. We almost always order the same things: stuffed chicken wings, hoy jor, fish cakes, massaman beef curry, larb gai and pad khing with prawns(not always in one seating though). Last week I was home alone so ordered a thai green curry with chicken and steamed rice. Just superb.

We have been going to Ta Ta Thai almost weekly and the high quality of food for the price always amazes us. Also BYO is a bonus!

So I came here with a few good friends who used to live in the area and swear by this Thai spot. After eating here I wish I was told about it sooner. We started with some fish cakes, which were tasty but not memorable(as I ate them only two hours ago and cannot describe them now). The reason I cannot describe them is the mains we had were amazing. The panang curry with beef was good with its thin slices of beef and thick coconut gravy. But the green curries were amazing. The basil really comes out strong and they put enough chilli to make me happy(we all asked for extra). The chilli basil beef stir fry(the first one on the stir fry menu) was also amazing. Some of the other dishes took a back seat to these, but were good in their own rights. So the ambiance of this place is a nice cozy place close enough to the Neutral Bay wharf. It is tastefully decorated with gold and purple accents. The serviettes(napkins for us Americans) are folded to look like flowers(orchids?). I assume they have many takeaway orders put in by people taking the ferry home and decide the aromas this place gives off are too much to handle. But if you do choose to dine in, they are BYO wine.

I’ve been to this Thai restaurant several times because, frankly, it’s the closest one to where I used to live. It’s also right beside Neutral Bay ferry wharf, if you’re looking for a bite. The first time I went the food was average and the service was ok, if a bit slow(and for no reason, it wasn’t a busy night). The other times were much better: all the dishes seemed tastier, and the service was faster(though it can be busy). On average, perfectly fine if undistinguished.

Ta Ta Thai has been established for awhile and its been a consistent favourite with locals and visitors for a solid 11 years. On Friday and Saturday nights its hard to make spontaneous visits recently as this popular and tiny restaurant fills up quickly. Ta Ta Thai has a sound reputation for its service and rightly so its some of the best hospitality I have had the pleasure of experiencing. Its also my first choice of delivery when Im feeling too lazy to leave my abode. They take cash only for home deliveries. Usual order and highly recommended is the Hoy Jor, prawn and crab meat rools served with plum sauce and the Crying Tiger which is marinated and barbecued beef steak Thai-style served with hot chilli sauce. Call ahead if you want a guaranteed seat and when you dine enjoy some of the best Thai this way north.
