Love it. Love it. Love it. Friend service, decent coffee, awesome french baked goods. Our favourite is the Stromboli! Also love their bread. We visit at least once a week. You can easily forget that you aren’t in France for a moment whilst sat inside.

I haven’t had food at the bakery yet, nevertheless for more than 6 months I have been buying bread from their little stall at the Kelvin Grove market. The melted rye bread is my all time favorite, it’s a bit expensive, one medium size round loaf for 7 $ but it’s so rich in texture and so delicious that I do not mind it. Rye bread is not easy to make and I know because I have had my share of making«brick» instead of «bread» when it comes to rye but theirs is amazing, the generous amount of sunflower seeds through and on the surface of the bread is very yum. Their customer service is however a bit cold and on defensive side. Probably it’s because I am comparing them with all the friendly people in the market but in general although their bread has left me with a good impression, their staff have failed to do so.

This ham and cheese sandwich with bechamel and topped with an egg is worth the calories! That is, if you enjoy cheese and the such. Banneton is known for their bread, and well, the bread did not fail me! This was one delicious Croque Madame, with a delicious side salad. Overall, it was a bit heavy for me, but I did end up finishing it! My chai latte(3.5) left me wanting more, as they come in the small latte cups instead of mugs now. I was a bit disappointed, but it was definitely a satisfying cup of chai. The iced latte was also refreshing — definitely would recommend it!

The Banneton experience we’ve come to know from all Banneton locations with the New Farm community feel. After just one week of trade, I sat in Banneton’s newest bakery listening to the managers greet customers by name and pass congratulations when one customer mentioned they were having lunch next week with another couple they’d met in the store previously. I sipped on my flat white and took the manager’s Brenda advice to try my danish dipped in the coffee like«the French do.» You can sit on either the savory or sweet side of the pastry fence here and although I opted for the escargot, you cannot deny yourself the creamy mushroom Danish or brekky basket for something more filling.
