This little chicken shop in Newton is the best! Ladies behind the counter work so hard and fast. Love the food

Newton Charcoal Chicken would have to be my absolute favorite chicken shop in all of Adelaide.
The amount of chicken and chips that goes out of this little shop speaks volumes to the quality of the food produced.
Newton Charcoal Chicken serve both free range and standard family chickens, the crunchiest, freshest chips, and a wonderful array of fresh salads.
One of things that impresses me the most about this little shop — is that they still serve everything in paper bags. I am a huge fan of this — as I HATE soggy chips caused by plastic bags.
Late last year this shop actaully suffered a fire which caused a huge amount of damage to their shop — which devistated the owners — and me! (lol)
I was absoluely thrilled when I recently discovered that this shop has re-​opened (albeit disappointed that I hadnt realised it actually re-​opened back in January) However, I have more than made up for it in the last week (lol)
If you are looking for good quality Chicken and Salad or Chicken and Chips — you cant really go past Newton Charcoal Chicken

The sheer volume of Chicken and Chips that goes through this small store in Newton staggers me — the team of ladies behind the counter really have their offering down pat though, working as a team to take orders and prep them with the minimum of fuss. The store is almost always busy, and just as they’re running out of chicken a new batch is coming off the coals — it’s all so streamlined, chips go into their serving sized bag, then drop into a big enviroment friendly brown bag (stops them sweating too) while it’s held by another staff member — and out of ALL the food places I’ve been, they’ve never once stuffed up an order I’ve made — now THAT I love :)
The chicken is plump, luscious and delicious — you can choose from a standard chicken or a free range organic offering for a little extra. The salads are fresh, vibrant and tasty — and the chips — omg, best chips in town — I guess when you cook THAT many chips you get good at it :)
We feed a family of four for under $ 30 here — that’s a chook in eights, medium chips, and a couple of medium salads. One warning — cash only. There’s a teller machine across in the shopping centre.
