$ 8.60 for a normal beer complete rip off, way over priced and everything is always reserved so there is nowhere to sit anyway, far better places in north Syd to go to

Love the treehouse. Lunch dinner for just drinks. Nice and friendly staff. Great wine list and the food is awesome.

Great place for a casual long lunch and business meetings. I really enjoy the relaxed vibes nestled in the venue, away from the busy Walker st. Food is pretty good and not overly expensive either.

Very nice place to have a great meal at a decent price. Real buzz in the place even on a Tuesday, and the service was both friendly and efficient, even with so many customers. The scampi was delicious, as was the eye fillet.

The best thing about the Treehouse is the décor — eclectic with funky birdcages and dim lighting inside, always with funky music. Probably the best ambience in North Sydney :) The outdoor seating is nice in summer and has heaters in winter, so also a nice place to sit. The coffee is good, and there are lots of funky little nibbles to choose from if you want some breakfast to go with it. Lunch is also delish, the only drawback being as others have mentioned that the prices are quite high –the steak sandwich is always a good option, and they used to do a nice chicken fennel & pear salad if you wanted something lighter. Dinner has lots of options, and it feels more reasonable to pay $ 30 for your main in the evening than it does at lunch time. I have dropped a star due to their rule around not splitting bills. I got caught out one weeknight after having dinner with a friend and we both wanted to pay on our cards($ 100+ bill) and they were immovable. She would have had me walk in the dark to the ATM5 minutes away rather than just do two credit card swipes. The inflexibility, especially as we weren’t aware just seemed unnecessary. All in all a nice spot in North Sydney for a slightly pricey lunch or cocktail, great dinner, or just a drink after work.

Great food(albeit on the pricy side if you’re going there for lunch), great atmosphere and really friendly staff. My girlfriend and I had oysters, fish and a panna cotta dessert for dinner and it was Devine! I didn’t have cocktails on this occasion but in other times I’ve been here they were amazing!

Funky old, new and rustic décor with a good vibe for the Monday morning coffee hit, only got a cappuccino to go and it’s a decent hot coffee. Great for groups as its a large space, so must come back with friends to explore the menu

Great ambience, good food and nice atmosphere. I just find this place too pricey for what it is… an after work gastro pub. The service can be quite slow at times and it does tend to get quite busy on Thursday and Friday night.

Breakfast, lunch or dinner — this place has a fantastic atmosphere and is a great place to grab a coffee or a glass of wine for a business meeting… Or, kick back and party on all night. One of the best places in North Sydney to eat and drink.

Lovely atmosphere. Nice blend of friendly staff, great food and very comfortable layout. Seating ranges from informal high bar stools, more formal inside table seating and more relaxed lounge style tables in a shaded outdoor setting. Perfect for long summer lunches. Food is a small range of well thought meals. Good light and tasty salads to accompany everything from gourmet steak sandwiches to larger meals like pasta or spatchcock. Nice range of beers and wine to accompany any choice. 2 of us ate and drank for a long lunch for $ 100. Staff were attentive and friendly. Of the bars in North Sydney this the pick for food and atmosphere for a get together.

Touch overrated. Has potential, but we hardly ever end up here. It’s literally attached to our office building. AND we still tend to choose other spots. The food is very tasty but too expensive for just any normal Friday pub lunch. We’ll go here if we have an occasion. Same with the drinks, pricey and not worth the hassle most days. As far as the food goes, the steak sandwich is nice and my fave is the homemade gnocchi. It’s sooooo rich. You might need an afternoon nap after your lunch. I do appreciate the actual venue, especially if we can grab a seat outside in the sun. Nice décor and atmosphere. Again, I like having a reason to go here and celebrate for something different and fresh. Service is okay, but slowwwwww.

I have to agree 100% with Hannah on this review. She really hits the main points. Just to refresh, they are: — a bit too expensive when compared to the quality — The steak sandwich is really good. There are other great items like when they have salmon or the gnocchi, but I do not think they are worth the price — its good, but not that good… slightly overrated — décor is funky and interesting. It is a nice change of scenery in North Sydney — Outdoor seating here is really nice on a sunny day, especially if it is warm with a light breeze The coffee here is pretty good though. Plus you can grab a few marshmallows to go with your coffee(by that I mean snack on, not actually to put into the coffee).

3 stars: A-OK. Sums it up for me, in that there are some things they do really well, and some they could do better. Either way, this funky bar-restaurant is a welcome addition to the North Sydney area, not because of a lack of good places nearby, but because most other places can get fairly packed at times. So — food, good. Service, slow. Ambience, ok. Price… hmmmm, maybe slightly pricey, but good for the area. I was disappointed that they were sold out of the gnocchi on the night I visited, but the pork chop with peach was very good as a second choice. We did have to wait forever for the meals to arrive, but bizarrely also had to wait for a good 15 minute to get the third glass of water at our table(my two dining partners got the last two clean glasses in the restaurant, apparently). Anyway, I would happily return, as long as I was not in a rush to get anywhere and in good mood :)

Good food, good wine list, great atmosphere and décor… However the service is pretty poor; we went there for a meal one evening after work and when we asked for a table we were directed to the bar area, and then when we tried to order food we were directed back to the dining area where we originally asked for a table. After we were seated we were then ignored for the next 20 minutes while we tried to get the attention of the waiter. The food once it arrived was pretty damn good. I had the gnocchi, which was absolute deliciousness, it had goats cheese and pangritata stirred through it. This would probably be a really nice spot for after work drinks and the food is undeniably good, just don’t hold your breath for good service.

This place is good. It serves good food, it looks good, with a good atmosphere and good music, the drinks are good and so is the service. It’s all good. But there’s a disconnect here that stops it from being great. There’s a weird segregation between Treehouse the Resaurant and Treehouse the Bar; they don’t come together in a meaningful way. Like any good pub it’s a place you want to come and hang out, probably eat, eventually, but certainly relax and have good times: sadly when visiting you’re confronted with an awkward decision that you’ll rarely comfortably answer. Do you want to sit down with cutlery and a hefty, limited menu, or linger around the bar for a few quick ones? Doing both is not encouraged. I sort of understand it. North Sydney is fickle and there are practicalities to consider: it has to hit the business lunch crowd as well as the post-work drinkers, cater to café-style breakfasts as well as casual, lingering afternoons. It’s bitten off a lot of responsibility and you can feel it trying to live up to that. It just doesn’t quite come together yet. Maybe it just needs a cleverer bar menu, or a shifting furniture — some kind of subtle Feng-Shui upgrade to counter the conflicted vibes. I don’t doubt that when this place starts to click, it’ll come together and it’ll be a cracker of a venue. Until then it feels like a work-in-progress.

The design and layout of The Treehouse was one of the aspects that drew me in. Owned by the same guy who runs Alberts Tavern in North Sydney, the Treehouse is definitely an experience for the following reasons: * beautiful décor * live music * amazing cocktails * a great place to meet friends * tasty food! –gourmet galore! * a refreshing venue in North Sydney * great for after work drinks if you work in the area

I’d heard really good things about The Treehouse, from both friends and review I’d read. It sounded really cute, with yummy drinks, fun music and general merriment. So following the completion of our exam, a gang of friends and I decided to check it out one Thursday night. We arrived there are 9:30, and were promptly informed that it was closing. At 9:30pm, on a Thursday(the night, for those of you not in the 18 year old know, that North Sydney goes off) evening. No possibility of sitting down, no possibility of having a drink. You must all find somewhere else to go. «It’s like,» one friend put it, «they don’t understand the basic principles of capitalism. We want to purchase your services; you sell them to us at an exorbitant price.» Given that there were upwards of twenty people there, it seemed silly to close the bar. But close they did, so I will never experience The Treehoues’s cute live musicians, nice cocktails or fun vibe, because I will never go back.

While not quite up to Disneyland’s Swiss Family Robinson par,(But what is, to be fair?) this is exactly what I had hoped for from this aptly named venue. Whimsical lighting, hanging plants, decorative birdcages, cosy nooks and the rogue gnome or two made this open plan indoor/outdoor establishment feel like a jungle escape in the middle of the concrete jungle that is North Sydney. Clearly a great place to come for a classic cocktail or five, Treehouse would be an ideal venue for hosting some spectacular event. And while I can’t comment on the beauty of the food as I was just there for a quick coffee, I did take a peek at the menu and made a note to come back for the handmade gnocchi with sautéed zucchini flowers, goats curd and parmesan crumb. I may have to cycle, jog and swim there from my house to justify it, but I have a strong feeling it would be worth it.
