What an exciting way to eat. Our Teppanyaki expert, Ken with the special sauce was brilliant, his salt and pepper twirling skills were close to knocking Tom Cruise off his cocktail bottle spinning throne. Yes, Ken is Japanese. I started with an Espresso Martini which I can’t score out of 10 yet as I’m a rookie. I really loved it so will have to taste one at each establishment I visit. Join the martini tour so to speak. $ 65 will get you the starting menu with choices which was a good amount of food. You can select extra menu items or just move up to the next level of menu. I opted for the scolops for the seafood course and the beef from the meat course. That beef is to die for. Don’t say no to the prawn head. This sits on the grill during the whole meal until it becomes a crispy, crunchy morsel of deliciousness. What was that you say… prawn head Trust me on this one. Green tea ice cream is refreshing.

Tasty food and exciting entertainment made for a good night at Midori when we visited on Sunday. It’s kind of expensive($ 65 for the cheapest option, no drinks included) but the food is all tasty(the beef is amazing) and the chefs keep you entertained with their impressive juggling skills. It’s a great place to go for something different to a normal dinner out.

I came here for my 30th birthday meal. The restaurant is lovely inside and the host was nice. We where taken to the cooking area and given the drinks and food menus, we ordered our drinks and sat down having a little chat as you do when you go for a meal. Within 2 minutes we were asked on 3 separate occasions if we where ready to order food. One of our party had gone the toilet and hadn’t even looked at the menu, I noticed a little older lady who I assume was the owner or manager running round telling the waiters to take our food orders. It seemed as if we were being rushed into ordering our food. Eventually we ordered and our chef ‘Charlie’ was very friendly and was really good but again I felt as if it was all being rushed as the courses where really small and where served really quickly. The food itself was very nice and I understand they have to get a good turnover of people to make money but they could do it a little more discreetly. I would have given it 4 or even 5 stars if it didn’t feel like I was in a cattle market.

Very delicious and the quality of food was great! Our chef was friendly and fun. It was a great one time experience… too expensive to be a regular customer :(It would be awesome if they had cheap Tuesday… I would go all the time!

I’ve done good tepanyaki. I’ve enjoyed good tepanyaki. This is not good tepanyaki. Midori is Japanese for green, and the chef was. He hadn’t yet got past fumbling with salt and pepper grinders. I’ve never felt so unwanted or unwelcome, dinner was done in a very short time indeed. I’ve given one star as the ice cream was good. Avoid it. If you want better theatre dining then possibly go to a fast food store on William Street. You’ll see talented jugglers and artists. And the food will probably be ok too, compared to Midori.

I’ve have been here before in the old restaurant in perth for teppanyaki and thought it was amazing. I had my birthday dinner here last night in the new place as was pretty disappointed with the experience. This time we just went for al la carte and they say us up stairs where no one else was so we felt very forgotten about. Our menu had less options that I thought/remembered. The waitress came and took our drinks and brought them back pretty quickly. Then another couple came up stairs to be sat down and the staff plopped them right next to us, even with the whole upstairs empty. So we order our dinner and didn’t repeat our order. Our entrees came out at different times which wasn’t that bad as we were sharing them anyway. Then someone’s steak came out super early and was rare, even though they asked for medium. So another 10 min had passed until the waitress came back with the other orders and took the nearly alive steak back to replace. We had finished out meals before the steak was brought back. Although when we all got to eat our meals it didn’t taste bad it definitely wasn’t worth the price. The presentation was nice but I didn’t pay $ 45 for it to look good. The service seemed rushed and out of order and they should have sat us down stairs.

A small group of us(six to be exact) enjoyed a wonderful dining experience at Midori. Why decide between dinner or a show, when you can get both at Midori! Having only had Teppanyaki once before in Singapore, I was eager to try it again here in Perth. We had a drink at the bar and were then shown to our table by a lovely waitress. We all decided to have the Geisha set with the garlic rice, so we sat back and waited for the chef to weave his magic! Let me assure you we were not disappointed. I tried to catch the egg roll in my mouth, but failed miserably as it sailed by my shoulder. One of my friends had better luck, delicately tipping her head back and trapping it in her mouth! I had great fun trying though! We started off with a salad which was fresh and crisp and had an amazing dressing. The other courses included prawns, gyoza, scallops, beef, stir-fried vegetables and the garlic rice! The flavours were amazing and the garlic rice was exceptional! At the end of the meal we were guided to another table where we were served our dessert course — green tea ice-cream which was delicious, sweet enough with being cloying. The chef was enthusiastic and proficient and entertained us no end with his fire-breathing theatrics! He also managed to write greetings in salt on the hotplate! We left Midori on a high, giddy with the excitement of it all!

My teppanyaki experince is a little on the lower end of the scale. But I have heard plenty about what i should expect from a good Japanese business offering the teppanyaki experience! I dined with a group of 4 and we were lucky enough to be seated smack-bang in the middle amongst all the action right infront of our chef. We ordered the Midori menu option which was slightly on the more expensive side, but looking at the range that it offered I couldn’t say no! There was everything from scallops, crayfish, wagyu beef, stir fry vegetables and my favourite– crème brule! Our chef was so lovely and treated us very well. I really do enjoy having an authentic Japanese chef who really brings the experience to life. He fulfilled requests for extra fire-breathing, throwing extra egg in our faces and even drew a birthday cake from salt on the surface to celebrate my sister turning 21! The food was filling for me, I would definitely look at getting something from the menu that is at least $ 85 to ensure a fuller stomach. Drinks from the bar were delicious and we throughly had a good time. It also helps when the guests sitting either side of you enjoy themselves as well– it brings the entire atmosphere of the place together and makes for a great dinging experience! Would for sure recommend!

Boring — move right along! Probably one of the few Tepanyaki experiences in Perth but poor value and not the greatest food. Having visited many Tepanyaki bars I was not overly impressed with this place. Sadly, it is probably the best Perth has to offer. $ 65 will get you: A small salad 3 dumplings(if you are lucky, the chef forgot to serve me) 5 tiny shrimp Miso soup A bowl of rice 3 scallops 1 tiny overcooked salmon fillet Some stir fried veges And green tea icecream(the only impressive dish) $ 40 will get you 2 cocktails at the bar! Sorry Perth but your favourite Tepanyaki restaurant completely sucks. In comparison to the rest of the country you are paying a premium for smaller food portions, drinks and lack lustre theatre.

They’re not lying when they say it’s ‘the theatre of dining’. A great place to go for a different experience with a small group of friends, or a work dinner. The chefs will impress you with their flash fires and food throwing capabilities. Prepare to get egg on your face literally, don’t worry it’s cooked! You pay for the entertainment, as you don’t get a huge amount of food and it’s not super high-end. Special note to the dessert: Green tea ice cream, some of the most delicious pungent tea tasting ice cream I’ve ever tried. It was also presented very beautifully.

Great Food & Entertainment I attended a UYE here and had a great time. It’s only the second time I have had Teppanyaki. The chef put on a good show with plenty of fire which was great to warm me up in Winter. Be prepared to catch the egg roll in your mouth! The food was flavoursome and the service was great. Teppanyaki is best enjoyed in groups so you can all get involved in the action.
