We come here for rainbow icecream and coffee. The location is brilliant, because of the proximity to the shops and the people watching. I feel there’s enough space to relax here. The service is prompt and I enjoy the coffee. The food and juices seem to be a little expensive, but if you’re going to treat yourself I think it’s worth paying extra for the real estate, reputation, and quality dining.

First off, don’t faint at the prices here — a salad is $ 16 and a small Salmon Sandwich is $ 10, that shocked me so I hoped for a good quality lunch. It was. The salad was fresh and generous, with good dressing and plenty of avocado and olives. The thick slice multigrain sandwich was generously filled with smoked salmon(when I was expecting tinned). Sorry to have doubted you, Bocelli’s — you’re good. Thank you.

I have walked pasted this place copious amounts, but never stopped until my friend mentioned that it has some of the best cakes and serves proper Italian coffee that she has ever tasted in Perth, so I thought why the heck not! Although, I was not initially drawn to the café, I was pleasantly surprised! There is always a line of people waiting to be served and heaps of staff ready to take orders, so the line goes quickly. There is a range of customers– from passing through travellers enjoying everything Perth has to offer, tired looking parents and kids and busy workers. I enjoyed a smooth and creamy cappuccino and nibbled at a berry cake and a banana bake cheesecake — both were very light and moist. I’m unsure of the prices, but I’m positive it’s above average, due to its loyal customers and perfect location. With the sun shining, alfresco seating and good coffee, its worth the extra buck or two.

Bocelli is in a great location — it has an outdoor seating area on in the bustling shopping district. I wanted to sit out in the midst of it all so I came into Bocelli’s and ordered a caesar salad. Holy shit, it was atrocious! 1. Grated carrot has no place in a caesar salad 2. Egg has no place in a caesar salad 3. The chicken in a caesar salad shouldn’t taste like lemon 4. A salad should be light and refreshing, not laden with fatty bacon, thick dressing, and greasy croutons …And 5. It cost EIGHTEENDOLLARS. Bleugh!

Similarly to the Italian stallion with the voice from heaven and the same name, Bocelli has built a loyal and strong following. Their consistent coffee’s, quality food, great service and unique location makes them hard to beat. One of the great things about Bocelli is that you can get a coffee quickly — this is a rarity in the city, especially considering the prominent location. The food is reasonably priced and the quality is great. The style is standard café fare with a little extra flair. I have had breakfast there a few times and have been pleasantly surprised with the poached eggs and beautiful sourdough bread lightly toasted to cap off the perfect brekky!

Bocelli is a little shopfront café in the middle of Forrest Place, named after the famous tenor — a photo of the tenor standing in front of his namesake takes pride of place at the front counter. In terms of coffee, Bocelli offers decent coffee, although at somewhat inflated prices. Their cakes and muffins are okay, if looking a little dry in the corners. Their other food is average, if somewhat overpriced for their small portions. Bocelli has a very convenient location for shoppers in the CBD, but there are better cafés down Murray Street, a brief walk away [Secret Garden and Tiger Tiger are two that spring to mind].

Its a pretty decent café with a pretty decent location, not to mention their pretty decent banana bread and muffins. There’s not much else I can add here The only issue can be humbugging from local pigeons. Claws of my muffin bird!

It is REALLY hard to find a good coffee in the CBD after 12pm that doesn’t taste like cancer in a cup. If what you’re after is a flavoursome, nutty and quick cup of coffee, you want to visit Bocelli Espresso. It’s right next to Myer on Forrest Place, and during peak lunch and urgent caffeine periods is a hot spot for Perth’s corporate faces. With a no fuss menu, it’s an easy and reliable café if what you’re after is a plain old cup of coffee without the bells and whistles. Alternatively, they also have an Al Fresco dining area if youre in the mood for people watching Murray Street’s shoppers. I usually order a regular long black with a splash of soy on my lunch breaks and grab an Almond Croccantini for a quick sugar fix(also nice to dunk in your coffee!). My coffee is always the perfect temperature, the crema is slightly nutty and even though it’s 3pm, it tastes as fresh as the first cup of the day. Although some people may find their prices slightly inflated, I’m more than happy to pay for their consistently good caffeine hits.

I covered the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting protests a month ago, with most of the action, of lack thereof, unfolding in Forrest Place. While the protestors set up camp near the Commonwealth Bank, I set up camp at Bocelli’s Espresso, which is where I go for its eponymous beverage whenever I’m in the city. The café was named for the Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli, who heard the news and visited to say thank you when he was in town.(There is a photo of the meeting on the front counter.) It was also produced the city’s first state barista champion, Stephen Meszaros, in 2004. Even though Meszaros has moved on, the coffee continues to merit plaudits. Hot, bitter and perfect, it can be consumed either inside or, preferably, outside, in the al fresco dining set-up that is at once both perfect for people-watching and closed-off enough so that people can’t watch you. The usual line-up of pre-made pastries and sandwiches is available. The place is obviously popular: it was forced to open a second store on the train station overpass, a mere two minute walk away, in order to cope with demand. It hasn’t worked. The coffee was so good that even more people turned up. Which is why you can always expect to wait a little longer than you might perhaps like.
