Head Studio

I love Head Studio. Not just for the awesome décor or the lovely staff, but for the haircuts I’ve had. This is my second time visiting Head Studio, which says a lot, as I can never seem to find a good hairdresser in Perth. My hair is thick and tends to frizz, but my hairdresser did an amazing job and gave me a nice clean cut.
This time round I also got a balayage, which was my first hair colouring experience. I was nervous at first, but she knew exactly what I wanted and gave me naturally beautiful looking tresses.
Prices are on the higher end compared to most salons I’ve been to, but I don’t mind because I have faith that I am going to get the perfect cut and colour :)

This is a very funky hairdressers where everyone looks so cool all the time. I get my hair done here and have for years and while they are pricey, I’ve not found better. They make you a cup of tea or coffee on arrival. Sometimes cider or sangria or champers if in the arvo. You can order food from Uncle Joes too and it gets delivered right up to you. Everything you could possibly want.

I really love head studio on king street! The venue is fresh and funky with a range of cool seats and décor. The staff are wonderful, very attentive, playful and fun. They will also easily take the hint and not chat if you just want to sit back and relax. Beverages and head/​shoulder massage are all part of the experience and you might snag a sneaky sangria if you come at the right time! I love a salon and hairdresser that I can trust to tell my hair wants and they are able to produce a wonderful cut meeting my needs. I personally see Mat and he is great with my short hair while a friend loves his work and she has long hair, so he seems very versatile. The prices are fairly regular for higher end hair salons with a short hair cut costing around 100 $.
If you are looking for a fun and sophisticated new hair salon look no further than head studio!

Head studio is the best.
I was new to Perth and hesitant about having to find a new hairdresser after having seen the same one back home for a number of years.
Headstudio made it such a seamless pleasant experience. My colorist Fluer, helped me make a change I would never had done on my own and I love it! Tim
who cuts my hair is great at styling in a way the suits both my face and style.
The salon is a hive of activity and always has fun upbeat music playing, delicious coffee and friendly staff.

I have tried so many different hairdressers in my struggle to find a salon with a great atmosphere and friendly staff, so I was excited to find this trendy little salon tucked away on King street.
The salon fit out is gorgeous and it has the funky and friendly staff to match. I have requested Tanya on all of my visits and have left with a great haircut every time.
You can expect to be looked after as the salon has coffee, comfy chairs and the stylists will even do a short consultation before they begin so you can make sure you leave with exactly the style you want.
Head Studio is definitely a treat compared to your regular shopping centre salons. Although you can expect to pay a little bit more, if you are like me and looking for more than just an overpriced trim that you will find at a lot of places around Perth, Head Studio won’t disappoint.

Love Head Studio!!! Been here twice now and both times they haven’t disappointed! As soon as you walk in you feel like royalty they take your coat and ask you for a drink and then the stylist/​s who are doing your hair have a consult with you to find out exactly what you want. They give you Real Coffee!!! So I got a cappuccino whilst I waited. The staff are very friendly, funky and professional they make you feel comfortable and take their time to give you the best possible result. They also give awesome massages! It’s a pricey place but definitely worth it! Loved the end result both times I have been! Head Studio rocks!!!

AMAZING. I love Headstudio and I have been visiting the studio for over four years now. Although pricey, there’s never been a time I have left the salon dissatisfied with my hair cut and/​or colour.
Headstudio’s City Salon is located on King St and functions on three levels; basement is the nail bar, first floor is the main arena for pre appointment discussions, hair cuts and washes and the second floor functions mainly for all colouring and foils. The Salon is decorated to fit the vibe of industrial chic whilst also incorporating the heritage feel of the original building.
The staff at Headstudio are incredibly passionate about all things hair and conduct pre appointment consultations to discuss what kind of style your wanting and/​or colour. This is incredibly helpful and one of the pleasures that does come with a pricey cut! You can also order a cheeky coffee or two during your visit to the salon :~)
Matt is definitely one to book in for hair styling, cut and blowdry!

I love this place. Although I’m not a regular customer (I’ve been seeing the same mobile hairdresser for about 6 years) I’m always happy when I walk out of Head Studio.
There are times when I can’t get in to see my regular hairdresser and I’ve been lucky enough to secure an appointment at Head Studio.
My last experience was for an updo and I couldn’t be happier with the result. They have built a very talented team and I always feel welcome from the moment I arrive.
Very cool fitout and reasonably priced as far as high-​end salons go.

Third time to head studio.
First time was for a colour correction after house of Ernest destroyed my ombré colour.
Fleur is definitely a top colourist. Knows her industry inside out and works overtime to make sure you what your end product will look like.
Jury is still out on the senior stylists — neither of the cuts have blown me out of the water.
Overall the service is average and not consistent — at $ 300 for a cut and colour I’d like to see filtered water served, turn the subtitles on the TV so you can actually enjoy the movie when having your colour rinsed, if your serving sangria on a hot day — ice needs to come with the drink, the complimentary head and shoulder massage could be five minutes instead of one, update your magazines last years gossip does not make for good reading, and some peanuts or cheese and biscuits would have been nice.

Gave Head Studio so many chances, tried different stylists but still got bad results… Ruined my hair… Extremely overpriced. Would not reccommend to anybody. Thanks!

Great salon. Award winning staff, amazing cuts and colour and great ambiance. Be sure to check out their new manicure and pedicure shop downstairs, as well as their men’s salon — Uncle Joe’s — just down the street for traditional shaves.

Love this place. It’s pricey, sure, but the facilities, services & staff are lovely. I’ve never had a short hair cut that looked great when I left the salon, and lasted for 3 months except at Head Studio.
Their range of services is fantastic too, manis and pedis with milkshakes, proper coffee while you’re waiting for your colour to take. It’s great & I’m pretty sure I won’t be going anywhere else for a long time.

This place is three levels of hair as high-​end fashion. Here hair can stay in the realm of beauty (think soft balayage curls) or can veer more towards cutting edge scene stealing dos (think barbie pink layered locks).
The staff are lovely and take the look you want to achieve very seriously with quite a lengthy consultation process before any colouring or cutting begins. I appreciate that.
There’s pretty much a café in the salon so all your caffeine and hair styling needs are met while you visit.
Be prepared to pay a lot more than most hairdressers for the services at Head Studio.

This is a fabulous hair salon where the stylists and cutters are very serious about their art. Now I’m not writing on behalf of a customer for I’ve not actually had my hair cut here but since they were once an advertising client of mine, I can tell you I’ve seen beautiful image after beautiful image in the staff’s editorial portfolios, at least. And beauty pictures do paint a thousand words.
I think if I ever grow my hair longer again and decide to do something different like straighten it or colour it, this salon would be at the top of my list to consider coming to.

When I move to a new city I always get a bit anxious about finding a new hairdresser. It seems like as soon as I find one I’m comfortable with I move again! But the first hairdresser I tried in Perth was Head Studio, and I think I hit the nail on the head, so to speak.
With long thick hair and a penchant for keeping my blonde highlights topped up, I have come to accept that any time I go to the hairdressers it’s going to cost me a pretty penny or two. And after trying to skimp on cost by going to some cheaper salons in my time, I’ve also come to accept that you get what you pay for. That’s why I don’t mind paying an extra few bucks to sit at ease in my chair in Head Studio, rather than fretting and constantly checking the mirror in a crappy supermarket salon.
Everyone wants something different from their hairdresser — some like the listen and do type, others like them to have their own ideas. I personally prefer the listening type. I don’t mind helpful suggestions but I hate when they take it upon themselves to cut you a fringe when you didn’t ask for one, or worse still, lecture you about using straighteners. The staff in Head Studio listened to what I want, stuck to the colours I chose, and cut exactly as many inches as I asked them to cut.

I think I speak for the majority of females when I say we are terribly picky about who touches our hair. Hair dressers are either a hit or miss, especially when you’re after a restyle or new colour.
On a particularly impulsive day, I decided that dying the ends of my hair purple and getting a blow wave would improve my quality of living significantly. Luckily, so did Head Studios in Perth’s CBD, and they managed to squeeze me in within an hour of calling them. Nice!
Located in the same area as Louis Vuitton, Tiffany and Co and Sass and Bide, Head Studio is a little bit fancy. The inside is beautiful with wooden floor boards, paintings by a local artist adoring the walls, a spiraling stair case and antique style furniture that feels more luxe than vintage kitsch.
When I enter the staff take me to the back and sit me in a huge velvet chair. The back is more like a small café with a coffee machine and magazines to browse through as you wait for your turn. I had a broken foot at the time and the staff were super sweet and accommodating, offering me cups of herbal tea and making sure I was comfortable. I really liked that they listened to me and didn’t treat me as their guinea pig, a notorious problem for me as most hair dressers want to chop all my hair off whilst complaining it takes too long to dry…
Once the colour is applied and developed by a lovely young lady called Rachel (I got a shade of lilac applied to my balayage if you’re interested), I’m taken over to the sink and given a wonderful head massage. The girls here are really great to talk to and have mastered the art of small talk perfectly without appearing nosy or mundane. The water is the perfect temperature and I don’t know what products they used, but they made my hair super silky and delicious smelling.
To finish off my hair, it’s given a quick trim to tidy it up, then styled with a GHD in soft curls. Needless to say, I looked awesome.
For a cut, colour and blow wave, I paid around $ 280. I’d recommend it to ladies who like the experience of getting their hair done because you do actually pay that little bit extra for the tiny luxuries they provide. I think it’s well worth it!
