Metro Bar & Bistro

Great special for $ 10! My steak was delicious and nicely cooked but my sister’s steak sandwich was quite chewy and fatty while my Gran had to send her well-​done steak back because it was quite rare. Friendly and very helpful staff, will be back to try the other specials.

Went to this place for lunch with my sister and a friend. We specified that we wanted 2 orders on the same table (so we could pay separately). While we were there together at the bar, my sister and her friend ordered first, I ordered afterwards. What happened was that the first order (for my sister and friend) made it to the table, then the waitress took away our tables number.
I went to the bar to ask for an explanation. The bar staff said that my order was still on its way. Both of these orders were for the same table, and should have been served together.
After a while, my sister went to re-​check on the order status. She was told that my order was still coming.
What eventually happened was that my order took so long that everyone else finished their food first. My order on its own took at least twice as long as the other order. We were about to just request a refund for my order and leave, when my sandwich finally arrived. I requested a bag for this food as we weren’t going to stay any longer. I was made to sign a waiver for health and safety concerns before I was allowed to take the food from the premises.
The waitress that was serving us at the end of the day apologised for the inconvenience, stating that this was a system error. Don’t get me wrong, this particular person who helped us through this was very apologetic and very polite. I was very happy with how she handled the issue.
Overall though, I have to give the restauraunt a poor score, for a poor first experience.

Nice venue, good service and nice for drinks. However had dinner here, the $ 23 lamb pizza was an insult. 4 bits of lamb on whole pizza. Disguised under carpet of rocket. Rip off. A sour note on an otherwise lovely evening.

When looking for Xmas workplace events I really recommend Metro Bar and Bistro.
We had a 3 course dinner at around $ 60 per person in a group of 57 and Metro delivered good service, food and overall was a winner.
The manager was easy to work with in planning for the event and flexible to our needs. The food was top notch with a variety of entrees, bread and dips, choice of 3 mains and dessert.
We all had a good night with no trouble in planning and holding the event.
It also helps that Metro is easily accesible via public transport.

Metro Bar & Bistro is located opposite the Convention Centre on the ground floor of the Mecure Hotel. The Metro is as grey and sleek as the Convention Centre but has a tiny bit more character. This is more of a corporate restaurant and bar, great for work meetings or functions. This is definitely not a quirky place you would head to with a few friends for drinks. The food is ok, though I have been disappointed with set menus for past functions here before, due to poor quality steak and small portions.
