Just had a lovely snack of Mushroom Pie and Latte. I took a stroll around the two rooms of Dutch Coffee Lab, taking note of the lots of fittings and photos throughout. They made the visit worthwhile, entertaining me and causing me to reminisce of past travels to the Dutch cafes in Bandung, Indonesia.

Best coffee in Adelaide. Have been back many times and never disappoints. If you are in Port Adelaide and need coffee, do yourself a favour and drop into the lab.

Best coffee in the Port Adelaide area, if not the whole western/northern suburbs. This clientele at this café is a mixed bag, which gives it a really relaxed and unpretentious vibe. There is lots of seating, art to look at on the walls, and friendly staff. Price is very reasonable — $ 5 for a medium soy coffee. Only negative I can think of is every time I have been there, there is an unappealing burnt cheese/eggy smell in the air, but it it not so strong if you sit in the back room. I just wish they were open later — this would be a great place to go after a movie or dinner.

Okay, this was a surprise find! I had only briefly researched around St Vincent St for coffee to be had at the Port, for a little day photo trip I was taking while catching up with a new friend. There are still many shop spaces vacant around, but this was a well serviced café by the local people. They have two main areas for consumers to use — one past the counter, and one as you step inside. They also have some nice seating outside, but its quite shaded early. The floors captured me for the simple wooden-crate-style look they have. Sadly, it would’ve been a long haul to find all the wood and fit it together, but the replica laminate was a nice warmth to the rooms. Tall ceilings allow for some interesting art to be displayed, and nice rust wired and rustic pieces feature around the café, bringing a clean yet rustic feel to the place. The counter of reclaimed random wood was definitely a highlight of the features. Staff were totally lovely and engaging — which is a personal fave for me — and the coffees we had were marvellous. I was really glad to have found a unique place that wasn’t too hipster, too populated or too squished in. For a Friday, there was plenty of people to make it an enjoyable atmosphere — but I suspect that they will have many more patrons on weekends! If you are heading out to the Port, I very much recommend visiting this tiny café. Theres a Salvo’s next door with great priced items — so fellows, you can bring your missus along and while you enjoy the serenity of your hot bevvy, she can spend up small next door.

Super friendly staff with great coffee and a cool hipsters vibe makes this place a new hidden gem down at the port. There aren’t too many places around here that do a half way decent cup of caffeine. This one is an exception.
