Ok… We arrived in Port Douglas and wanted the best seafood around. This place was recommended so we arrived later around 8pm. The place was nearly empty yet we were told my the server we had to wait five to ten minutes. So we pulled up a seat at the bar and ordered a drink. The drinks were cold, the bartender was friendly but had no real bar tending knowledge. For $ 20 drinks I expect a mixologist. We waited fifteen minutes and another five to be waited on after we were sat. I ordered the scallops, which, the be fresh scallops in the middle of season were smaller than a quarter and cost me a whopping $ 5 a piece. Rip off. My husband ordered the fish of the day which I cannot spell or pronounce. It was delicious, but again, so small of a portion that we both are when we left. Total bill, $ 160.

I ate here about 9 years ago when they were at their older location. The new location is much better and larger. The service we received was very good and overall the food was good too. We had a few appetizers and then split the seafood platter for one. The prawns could have spent another minute or so on the grill but overall, it was all good. A bit more pricey from what I recall years ago. Cocktails were pricey but very tasty and they had a big selection.

While the food and ambiance were quite good, the service is where 2 Fish fell down for me. Too bad as I had heard great things about this restaurant especially in this new, modern location. Attitude is key in the hospitality industry and I was surprised given the great service I had had in other locations around town that this place was so attitudinal, I guess is the best way to explain it. I was a little early for my reservation so I took a seat at the bar. The bartender didn’t know how to make my friend’s drink so we went through a long explanation as to how to make an old fashioned. Guess we should have ordered a margarita or beer! We got a great table exactly where I wanted to sit but it was clear our server was impatient that we had so many questions on the menu. We ordeed three of the starters to try and the fish specials of the day as our mains. The starters were okay with the winners being the scallops and the dumplings. But the mains were great. My Coral trout was delicious and my friend had some local fish that I still can’t pronounce(large mouth Nannygui) but was also quite good. Drinks were hard to come by and when they did, they were served incorrectly. When I brought this to the servers attention, she shrugged and put the drink down anyway. I guess I expected her to take it back and do it right but since it was just a glass size thing I let it go. We were going to have dessert but decided against it when the server never came back. So we asked a different server for the bill and took it up to the front when no one came to collect it. Dinner for 2 with drinks came to about $ 180 which was fine given the quality of the food. Cute place(love the light fixtures) with good food. But the service? Needs an attitude adjustment if you ask me!
