Expensive but they’ve got you captive, as who can walk by an ice cream store and not have their inner child scream, «Ice cream! Yum!»? Such was my downfall the other night. I was going to get a scoop of what I thought was my favorite flavor, coconut, but then when I asked what the most popular flavor was and the server said salted caramel, I knew that was going to be my demise. $ 4 a scoop was a bit indulgent but it was cool, creamy and I got to indulge my inner child before shaking it off and heading back into the world of grown ups. Behold the power of ice cream!

We were in Port Douglas for a week and promised ourselves we could have one ice cream every second day after dinner. Who the hell follows rules when they’re on holiday? Not us. I pretended all sorbet was vegan(the nice American lady said it was) and devoured blood orange and chocolate, passion fruit and mango, rock melon and strawberry throughout our stay. There’s something like 42 or 47 flavours of ice cream. I say«42 or 47» because there’s conflicting signs on the building but really, if you can’t find what you’re after out of 42 flavours, you’re too picky and need to open your own ice cream store called ‘Obscure Ice Cream Flavours No One Ever Asks For’ and let me know how your first year of trade goes. The staff are friendly and work together to complete your order. This sometimes results in two flavours of ice cream in one cup instead of one flavour in each, or being charged for sundaes instead of sorbets but all of this is easily fixed and nothing to complain about. Aside form ice cream, Wicked also sells new and second hand books, towels and has rows and row of computers giving ten minutes of free interwebz. I challenge you not to buy from this place at least twice when you’re in Port Douglas.
