Best fish and chips in Melbourne, hands down. They give you all the sauces you need for your fish and chips, and take great pride in making delicious salads, fish and chips. Go for the grilled option and the skewers are tasty as well. Note that this place can get pretty busy and maybe have to wait a good 15 minutes for your meal but well worth it. Don’t bother going to the fish and chips stores near to the pier as they will charge you $ 1 for a small tub of tomato sauce or tartar sauce, and Hunky Dory is about 500 m down but this one is better in every way.

Do not order the lamb souvlaki it is full of fat. Every bite was terrible and fatty tough meat. Awful. Go to hunky dory

There’s some eateries where convenience is a big factor in how you rate them. Fish & Chips definitely falls into this category. There are other places in the neighbourhood that I like better, but Belvga gets marks for: — It’s close to the beach(and better than the other one close to the beach!) — The servings are decent — you’ll always get more chips than you can eat… and then eat them all anyway — They don’t play ear-bleedingly loud music and it’s generally not crammed wall to wall — They have a good array of condiments, including sriracha Their grilled fish is tasty… consistently a little on the dry side and definitely not my top pick for Port Melbourne, but the chips are crunchy and it’s a block from the beach.

Great salmon pack — salmon, rice and a salad for a great price. Tip on a hot day — pre-order as this place can get really busy.

Situated on Bay St Port Melbourne… Have to say, ate here cause all the other fish shops were packed! What was everybody thinking… Extremely good chips and the burger with the lot had me questioning myself as to is this the best burger I’ve ever had. I know it’s a big call but been there again and the consistency in quality is second to now.
