Equilibrium is an expert team of designers with a wealth of experience. We collaborate with clients from a wide range of industries on visual communications (strategic graphic design) projects that support their activities and initiatives. We are at the forefront of academic research in design thinking, constantly reflecting and improving on our processes to ensure thoroughly unique and successful outcomes for our clients.
History
Established in 2011.
Equilibrium Design was founded by Bec Paton, a designer of 10 years experience. The aim of the studio is to incorporate knowledge from her design thinking PhD into the practice, create amazing work and operate on a new model for a design studio that is both client-based and entrepreneurial.

Bec P.
Business Owner
Bec has worked across branding and identity, publishing, marketing communications, advertising, web and interface design for over ten years. Her clients derive from industries in technology, hospitality, arts, culture and media, business and not-for-profit sectors. Her design work has received critical acclaim.
With a strong focus on designing for specific situations, she conducts contextual research and employs user-centred design methods to make reasoned and strategic design decisions. Her approach is highly consultative and agile, which supports smooth design development processes.
Bec is also completing her PhD, researching how the briefing process informs project formulation and client– designer dynamics at the University of Technology, Sydney. She holds two scholarships and has been published academically. She also lectures and was a conference convenor for the Design Thinking Research Symposium 8. She holds a B. Design with first class honours and and B. Economics.
