The Club

The Club has been around for a while now and it still seems as crazy popular as the day it opened. Admittedly I’ve grown out of places like The Club. Firstly I’ve never been one for lining up. The Club almost always has a line but of course if you’re a pretty young thing you’ll skip to the front. Once you’re in you’ll pass through the masses in the courtyard and make your way inside for a drink. It is easy enough to get a drink here but if you fancy a turn at the stripper poles you’ll be jostling to get at one (The Club was once an infamous strip club). The Club is a great place if you’ve got a good couple drinks under your belt, otherwise it can be a very sobering experience. If you’re under 24 then you’ll be among peers. A day older and you’ll be feeling like you’d be better placed in a retirement home. It isn’t my first choice for a night out but if you’re up for a boozy boogie then The Club can be fun.

The Club is a place you should on frequent if you are 1. so wasted you can’t even taste the drink your drinking; or 2. ok with sleazy men grabbing and despite how many times you say ‘let me go’ or ‘leave me alone’
Don’t get me wrong, the music is cool (old hip hop jams straight from your high school days) and the dance floor is wild but I thoroughly appreciate personal space (and having it respected by strangers) and that is something you don’t get here.

Situated beneath Hugo’s Lounge in Darlinghurst, Kings Cross, The Club is a happening place which attracts many events from university hosted parties to fashion launch events. Tucked away under Hugo’s, The Club is somewhat intimate in size and can get very packed. It almost has a somewhat underground feel to it. Located across the road from the renowned World Bar, The Club is a great place to end up for drinks and a decent dance. It can however get a little claustrophobic and hot in there due to lack of air vents and windows. However, there is a small courtyard where you can get some air.
