Wow, possibly the saltiest Chinese I have ever tasted. We actually wanted a souvlaki after an Oz day drinking outage, but it was closed, so we tried this Chinese ‘family’ dumpling place as the Unilocal reviews were ok… In summary, waaaay too salty. Everything was caked in salt, even the broccoli was 150% too salty. It was like drinking the ocean, but in broccoli form! Eeek! Need water, help me, I’m parched, argghhh!

Cheap and cheerful dumplings to the rescue in Prahran! Expect no frills: tissues on the table and self service drinks. But you can also expect super cheap dumplings and plenty of food for the best prices this side of the river The spring onion pancake was delish and disappeared quickly. The steamed veg dumplings were really good with nice fresh flavours. We opted for the pan fried prawn dumplings and while they were yummy, I’ll avoid the pan fried option next time and go for steamed. They were overcooked a bit with a few burnt areas. we were stuffed and didn’t quite finish everything and all up(with drinks) a grand total of $ 31. Bargain. It’s absolutely on par with other cheap eateries in Chinatown and saved us a trip into the city. We will be back.

This place is great. They have super tasty dumplings and a are definitely great value. I love to get the xiao long bao, chicken and prawn dumplings and the spring onion pancake. This place has become such a hit with my work as well. We will often call up during the week and order lots and lots of dumplings for lunch and the staff at CFD are always happy to accommodate such a large order. In my opinion, way better than Hutong next door.

Nom nom nom this place is cheap and cheerful. 12 dumplings for $ 9.50 or $ 10 with soup. The soup is bland chicken stock but with the amount of chilli oil I put it in, it’s delicious. You can also get chilli spicy soup but I like to control how much chilli I put in it. There’s a whole range of dumplings you can choose from and they also have other food but dumplings is the way to go. It’s family owned and the service is what is expected. A bit slow but you can’t go wrong with less than $ 10 a meal. Oh and it’s BYO. Closed on Mondays!
