Not bad. Good Luck Tea House isn’t the worst place to enjoy authentic Dim Sum. All the food was eatable and fresh. The service was also pretty good. It doesn’t hit the high notes. There’s nothing remarkable here. Also, as a tea house, they could benefit from more tea on the menu.

Unable to get into David’s down the road we set-off on foot to find yum cha. This place popped up and the menu seemed good so we got in. It was quite a busy Sunday, we arrived at 1:30 and the place was full. Only 2 tables free. From the time we got there until we left all the tables remained full. You can either order from the full menu or the dim sum menu. Craving lots of things we went for the dim sum. The staff were friendly and attentive the entire time and we’re happy for us to call them over 3 or 4 times every time we ordered more food. Our favourite dishes were the Shanghai dumplings — so juicy and flavoursome. The crispy prawn rolls were absolutely amazing also. Other dishes we ordered were: salt and pepper squid, BBQ pork bun, spring rolls and egg custard bun. Delicious! While the food here was not extraordinary it was perfect for what we were craving. The prices ranged between 6.80 to $ 11.50 for yum cha dishes which were a little on the pricier side given portions of some.

We always come here for our take away Chinese fix as we live so close. Staff are super duper friendly and our food has always been great. We never have to wait too long either.

The art of dim sum has always been a treasured treat among the Chinese population. In fact, dim sum is like a weekend culture where family and friends can get together to enjoy a good meal and even better company. The only problem with having dim sum in Melbourne is all the best places are normally fully booked and have two seatings which you must abide by. Thankfully however, lady luck was smiling down on me as I found this restaurant along Chapel Street. Situated conveniently opposite Coles, I can do the weekend shop and have a leisurely all-day dim sum lunch or even dinner with friends without having to run out the door when told to. The homemade(char siew/prawn) chee cheong fun, beancurd roles and scallop and prawn dumplings are my favourites and for some reason, their oolong tea is always just right. To be very honest, the dim sum is not fancy or award winning but when you’re up for it, the honest flavours and warm service at Good Luck Restaurant will keep you coming back for more. Ala carte favourites include wok fried noodles with beef: crispy noodles served with juicy beef slices in a thick gravy or wonton noodle soup, just perfect for chilly days!
