Lady Marmalade

Excited to have found this place. Lovely staff, relaxed atmosphere, and the best hair cut I’ve had in ages. I came on a Friday lunch time, and was offered coffee and cake on arrival! Apparently Friday is there special ‘cake day’ or something — hello!
They’ve also started up a Pop Dry service for those on the go — so if you’re heading for a night out and want a quick style or blow dry check it out. Prices are from $ 30-​$ 50 depending on what you want done.

Two girlfriends and I booked in for some styling at Lady Marmalade a couple of months ago, all three of us flying in from interstate for an event that weekend. We chose Lady M almost entirely for its proximity to our accommodation, backed up by the good reviews we’d read. Lady M were also quick off the bat to reply to my email query and they were very amenable to fitting all three of us in for styling appointments around the same time, so we could hang out and make a bit of a girls afternoon of it.
I’m happy to report that our experience was better than we’d even expected. We discovered that Saturday afternoon that Lady Marmalade have their own offshoot styling bar within the salon called ‘Pop Dry’ that is dedicated solely to making you look as fabulous and flawless as possible, with affordable prices (and delicious branded rock candy to munch on while the magic is happening).
My friends and I pulled up seats at the styling bar and with champagnes in hands proceeded to become superfly hair goddesses. No ask was too great – I wanted some slick big curls, Helen wanted a sexy blowout and Emma wanted a fishtail braid. Done and done. We felt like a million bucks (without having to pay what can often feel like a million bucks) and had an excellent evening getting showered with compliments on our fierce style jobs.
To top it all off, a couple of weeks later I got a thank you note in the mail with a voucher for my next visit. I may live interstate but the next time I’m back in Melbourne, I’m making a beeline for Lady Marmalade’s Pop Dry bar to reclaim the sassy locks I first walked out of there sporting. Zang. Love you long time, Lady M.

After my last cut and colour was a ‘hair-don’t’ rather than a hair-​do, I was more than a little apprehensive, but having been recommended by a friend with hair that always looks salon styled, I figured I would be in safe hands. (Plus its hat weather at the moment as a Plan B!)
I couldnt have been in safer hands. The staff at Lady Marmalade in Prahran greeted me warmly on arrival. I was offered an array of beverages and even cake! I met Jo who looked after my colour and Juliet who would be saving me from my previous hair cut disaster. Both listened to my probably misguided dreams for my hair and asked all the right questions giving feedback and guidance without being pushy or overwhelming.
I couldn’t be happier with the resulting cut and colour! And the shampoo/​head massage alone is worth making an appointment for! I’ll definitely be back and you’ll notice I’m the one walking around town flicking my hair like I’m in a commercial for shampoo!
