Antidote is where Heisenberg gets his caffeine infusion. Erlenmeyer flasks bubble away at precise temperatures whilst artisans tinker at intricate coffee creations. Suits and sandals collide here as diametrically opposed beings meld with a one-​minded intent.
The coffee is rich, flavourful and created by someone that cares. What more can you ask for?

These guys have a great selection of ways to have coffee. Slow filter, reverse heated and the traditional machine, just like Joe Black. The coffee itself is quite subtle compared to options like Little Marionette, more like the Wedge Espresso.
The venue is on the corner of the Darling, one of the hotels at the Star and the staff are friendly and quick off the mark with their coffee.
They have some divine looking desserts which I have steadfastly avoided — not sure how long I can keep that up for, considering one of them looks like sugar drenched cinnamon goodness. Lots of seating, in and out, standard prices and good coffee — just what I needed.

This new coffee spot is on the Union St side of The Star. And holy moly do they know coffee! On my first visit, the garrulous barista Ali took me and my coffee-​addict friends under his wing and proudly showed us the cold drip, siphon and pour over techniques he has in his caffeinated armoury. That reminds me, I still need to go back to try the cold drip…
Designed as a take-​away service, there are packaged fruit salads and pastries to grab with your expertly brewed coffee. I’m hoping they’ll put in some tables so you can kick back a while and have a yarn with Ali and the other lovely staff. But either way, if you find yourself needing a coffee hit in Pyrmont, Antidote is just what the doctor ordered.
