The good: Decent location if you’ll be spending time in Darling Harbour. Safe and secure. Pleasant front desk staff.
The bad: The wifi was so slow that I could barely connect my phone and iPad and couldn’t connect my laptop. The heat didn’t work, and my room would not heat above about 16 degrees (it was often warmer outside than it was in my room in the middle of winter). Bed and pillows were passable at best. Furniture (the very few pieces in the massive, cavernous room) felt straight out of a uni dorm room. Fridge froze anything in the top third and wouldn’t cool anything in the bottom third. Room was quite dirty– I put my spare suitcase on top of the armoire, and when I took it down at the end of my stay, several years of dust came with it. Room was very dark, as it faced quite a bleak courtyard.
The bottom line: If you get an amazing deal and must stay in this neighbourhood, go for it. If you are looking to impress anyone – or simply want to enjoy your stay – look elsewhere.

checked in when first came ro Australia 16^th May, room was on the 5^th floor with a balcony overlooking… a wall and car park!!! the room was dark and there was no seating apart from tatty chair in the corner… so if you wanted to sit and watch tele best of luck! …the shower wet room was awful so slippy and it flooded! …coped for a day then we asked to move, level 9 not so bad with better view and a lounge area mch better… now when you first get into hotel it looks like a prison !, with the metal cordons around the lower level rooms, only needed a tin cup to rattle… there are some fab rooms with views on the higher levels but as a lot of these oaks placea people actually live there bit more difficult to get… it is only short walk ro darling harbour and shops from here but it is through a multi storey car park wouldnt fancy it at night on my own… fireworks wvery staurday on the harbour ! cool

First time here, but I am quite happy overall. Great location, and relatively quiet considering it is next to two main freeways. While the interior layout of the access corridors is impressive at first, on further thought it is largely a waste of space; and not really that relevant as you don’t spend much time there.
The rooms themselves are quite spacious with high ceilings and a balcony. They are well ventilated and the air conditioning works effectively without being annoying. Beds are comfortable and the shower is excellent. The rooms are serviced daily, and have Foxtel and a DVD player provided.
The indoor pool is impressive, with a spa, sauna and gym nearby. The gym is a bit cramped, but quite usable and better than a lot of other hotel gyms. An undercover walkway leads to the monorail station two minutes away, just across from Darling Harbour.
Probably my biggest concern is about the lifts, there are only three and as this is a large complex, there will be delays at peak times. The reception desk is also quite small, and I have seen queues at checkout time.
However — prices are excellent for the standard in Sydney, I would compare this one very favourably with the Meriton apartments, and definitely better than any of the Oaks in Melbourne.

For $ 181.50 a night, I think it was price worthy of paying because of it’s location. It’s about 5 minute walk to the harbor & 10 minute taxi ride to the opera house and botanic garden.
The room definitely looks like it has recently been renovated because it looks pretty new on the inside but pretty old on the outside. I stayed in the one bedroom, 8^th floor facing the harbor. I can see a little bite of the harbor but not too much. It a little noisy at night because of all the clubs at the harbor and pretty close to the freeway, but it doesn’t bother me since it’s near the living room not the bedroom. The high ceiling inside the bedroom makes the room feels larger than it actually is. There is a kitchen stocked with pots, pans, plates, and utensils, so it’s great for long term stay.
The bathroom is also clean and looks pretty new. It and comes with a washer & dryer. Again, it’s great for business travelers who needs a place to feel a little bite like home.
Tip: Make sure you try to request a late check-​out (11:00am); otherwise, you’ll need to check out at 10:00am which is really early.

I chose Oaks Goldsborough through an external website to enjoy a weekend in Sydney. The rooms & location look great.
I was really happy with this place. My studio apartment was exceptionally clean, had all amenities — including a stove top & utensils of you wanted to cook yourself. I had an ample balcony (not with harbour views) but a view of a lovely Japanese themed garden.
The hotel is located about a 10 minute walk to the main part of Darling harbour which was very handy. The staff were attentive and I had a great 2 night stay here. I will return if I go to Sydney again.

From the web site my dad showed me before our trip, this looked like a pretty good hotel — but like the last reviewer said, pictures can be deceiving. Walking through the halls to our room, I imagined that’s what it felt like to be in prison or in a Gulag camp. The room itself was definitely old and not maintained very well. The walls were filthy, the furniture was rickety, and the antique couch-​bed in the middle of the living room reminded me of the Seinfeld episode where Elaine and Jerry’s dad hurt their backs on a couch bed. And the WiFi had a stupid price tag attached to it. It didn’t feel like being on vacation at all. The only positive thing I have to say about this place is that the location is really good. Darling Harbour was a five to ten minute walk.

The Oaks Goldsborough Apartments is rated five star accommodation and in prime position overlooking views of beautiful Sydney Harbour. From pictures I saw online, the hotel looks impressive and was built circa 1883. The photos of the rooms look pretty good as well, but do not be deceived by the clever marketing because that’s all it is. I was really disappointed with the room we ended up with for four people, two double beds. The place was tiny, with a rickety looking fold out bed that took up the entire space of the lounge room, and a separate room with another bed that took up the whole room. At least that one looked decent.
At night, you walk along these corridors and all you can think of is the last Stephen King story you read — the one about the haunted hotel room, which you pray isn’t yours — or the one you just walked past. I booked for a friend of mine as well and she had a three bedroom apartment, which compared to ours, was the four-​ish (not five) star quality I would have preferred. It was split level and had a cool stairway with complete privacy between the rooms, a decent kitchen and living space on a separate floor. I have to say that I felt slightly cheated having booked this place.
