Great food, friendly staff and their seafood is always fresh. Their takeaway menu(lunch sets) is really good value and serving is really generous.

Caveat: I’m a vegetarian. No meat, no seafood, no animal stock/broth. In the almost-five years(until April 2015) when I worked around the corner I ate lunch at Sushi Samurai countless times; it was the office go-to spot for any occasion. They have an extensive menu but in my opinion the lunch boxes are the real winners; I always got the teriyaki tofu — a generous serving which came with rice, salad, and pickle. All the lunch boxes also come with miso soup and a little bowl of agedashi tofu. They’ve opened a takeaway place next door but you can also eat-in there from the regular menu if the dedicated restaurant is too busy(and it often is). For large-ish groups(say 5+) I recommend making a reservation in advance. The staff are very sweet; quite often I didn’t even have to open my mouth because they knew I always got the same thing. I miss you Sushi Samurai!

Eh. Nothing very special about this restaurant. Came for dinner and had a roll($ 14). Thought the prices were a little outrages for the quality. Lunch probably is the better meal seeing that they had plenty of bento boxes that were very affordable. Service was mediocre, as the waitress couldn’t tell me what came in their rolls. They put crème cheese in their dragon roll? Also, to make my roll«spicy» they added sweet chilli??? Again, food was okay, but I’m not a super fan

2 of my friends and I had a bro out session and decided to get takeaway… after some quick research we stumbled upon Sushi Samurai. One of them had been to Sushi Samurai in Neutral Bay and said it was good, so we decided to order from them. I put in the order and they said it’d take 15 minutes to prepare the Deluxe Set($ 54.50) plus an order of Chicken Karaage($ 8.80) for takeway. 50 pieces of sushi(shrimp tempura, crab, salmon, cucumber, tonkatsu x2, california, and tuna) Food was fresh, wasabi and soy sauce plentiful, but the karaage wasn’t that crispy but that was due to the steam in the package that we didn’t crack open in time. The place is a hole in the wall so it’s easy to miss since it’s on a small and inconspicuous street… but I’d order takeaway from them again, it hit the spot. Oh…THEYOFFER A BUFFET!!!

I come here pretty regularly. The restaurant itself is pretty decent. The customer service is great. However the food’s quality is pretty bad for tonight’s visit. The sushi rice was loose, the seafood was not chilled and fresh. They blamed the new chef but I don’t think that excuse was good enough. Because The 3 stars is for the Jap waitresses’ courteous service and the restaurant’s cleanliness.

Best sushi house house I have ever been so far… The place is a bit small and hidden somewhere at Pyrmont. Service is good. Would love to come again for the buffet… :)

I would have walked straight past Sushi Samurai had my friend not steered me in. It’s a tiny little hole-in-the-wall on unassuming Bunn Street — but it’s just a short stroll up from the Pyrmont Bridge, and I can highly recommend you seek it out. If you’re a sushi fan, you’ve definitely come to the right place. The ingredients are beautifully fresh — though I guess they’d want to be situated that close to the Fish Markets! But if you’re not in the mood for sashimi and the like(and often I don’t fancy it for dinner), you can still Samurai it up with their amazing eggplant, Katsu Don and other delicious hot dishes. It’s also worth noting that Sushi Samurai has a voucher in the Entertainment Book — yet another reason to wander up Bunn St and hunt it down!
