This place was the absolute bees knees when the new owners took over a while back. We’ve had some cracker meals there, but our last visit had us feeling like maybe there has been a change in management recently. Very average service, average food (several stuff ups with our orders) and they really didn’t seem interested in you unless you spoke Italian (head waiter spent all his time chatting to one or two tables of Italian couples). I think we will be giving this place a wide berth for a while until it gets back on track — I do hope it does!!!

I have a confession to make… I’m addicted to arancini balls. Deep-fried breadcrumbs, ‘mato sauce and gooey cheese! droooooooooool!
So it was that I found myself at Tappo with a work colleague drunk on a Friday night having a bite to eat post a billion beverages.
We ordered a bunch of the starters, all of them were good (including the cheese plate which came with some kind of jellified fruit thingy and crispbread) but to be honest all I really cared about were the arancinis and there was more than enough for 2, it was a great serve.
We also partook of a glass of shiraz each which came in a glass that reminded me of a brandy balloon, so that was also mucho generoso.
What I was very glad about not having to pay was the bill. For 3 – 4 starters and a glass of red each we were stung with an $ 84 bill. Take out the $ 20 for the two reds and that means each starter was $ 15 – 20. Pricey, so I docked a star.
But the food, service and wine was all amazing. So if you’re a FRC (screaming jets) or you don’t care about money, hit Tappo up… and often!

Wow! I’m leaving this place with smile on my face and 2 kg more weight!
Zucchini flower is light and flavour is mind blowing.
Tuna carpaccio is fresh, great accompanion with beetroot chips, orange segment and slice fennel, classic text book.
Pizza. OMG. Fior di latte cheese is awesome, and the salami is quite spicy!
Canoli is a good choise to give a final impression, sweet ricotta and marscapone filling, just light and pack of flavour!
Recommended for an Italian food lover!
