I have been here 4 times so far. Each time the waiting room is crowded and the doctors are running late(I had to wait an hour once). I have seen 4 different doctors — all of whom seemed to only care about getting rid of me quickly and didn’t show concern for my general wellbeing.

Being sick takes the fun out of any day. This is a conveniently placed medical center at the top of the Rhodes Shopping Centre. The problem is the place is one of those with a dozen doctors and heaps of patients waiting in the waiting area. I hated that you don’t know how long you have to wait, some people seem to walk in and go to the next doctor right away, while I had to wait and wait while people who came after me got in and out quickly. For whatever reason you are on the queue for one doctor instead of the next available even though I didn’t ask for a specific doctor. The screaming kids didn’t help and the smell of sickness was in the air.

I hate falling sick and I’m not particularly fond of hospitals or anything medical related. But this winter when I got the flu, I tried sleeping it off, coughing it off and ignoring it, but when my condition didn’t improve, I decided to visit Rhodes GP. I like the convenience of having a one stop shop for everything. At Rhodes mall, you can shop, eat, buy groceries, gym and get a facial. I also love the fact that there is a medical centre located in the same building. Located on level 7 of the Rhodes Shopping complex, it is a very nice space. But there are a lot of information counters/receptions on the same floor and after queuing up at the wrong one for more than 15 mins(I was barely able to stand), I was disappointed at the lack of signboards or arrows. There was paperwork to be filled before I could meet the doctor and I wish the receptionist could have postponed that till later. They don’t provide bulk billing on weekends and this was further disappointing as I could have just as easily come the day before or after, had I known. Well, I did meet a very nice Doctor who prescribed medications and eventually I did get better, but the experience left me feeling bitter and now I have moved to another Family medical centre.
