I am a little bit in love with Hunky Dory’s. Richmond has oh so desperatly needed a good fish & chip joint for well ever! I have come to realise my last food item on this earth would have to be dim sims, I actually love dim sims & even more so there is actually nothing better than finding some place that does a good dim sim! Hunky Dory’s does just that. not to mention the salmon fillet, ddeeellliissshhhhh with all these herby garlicy spices on top, absolute perfection! I find the price rather reasonable for what you get when you go down the pack options, I can’t remember off the top of my head but you get a lot of food in your packs. The one downside I have noticed they don’t throw in the sneaky extra tato cakes like most fish & chip places. They have plenty of outdoor and indoor seating, which is fantastic as I always bring Thor(my pooch) down and he loves a few sneaky chips that I accidently drop. There is this one blonde girl who is there each time I go who is simply sensational, so so friendly & just all round a pleasent individual. Get down there.

Came here on recommendation from a colleague… IMHO this is a glorified chippery. it’s ok only in my book. The chips and the batter used for fish weren’t crisp. It was instead heavy thick layered and floppy? no doubt the ingredients used was if quality. That you can taste but I think the batter or the way they have gone about in differentiating themselves doesn’t work for me. It’s pretty good value though! The Bay: chips, 2 large calamari rings, over battered n soft flake and Potatoe cake with tartare sauce for $ 11.50. Anyway each to their own. for me the Oakleigh Fish n Chippery still holds #1 spot for me in the Fush n Chups stake. Happy eating all!!!

The latest instalment from the Hunky Dory crew opened on Swan St in Richmond just before Xmas. We ventured down on Boxing Day Eve for a fix of fish and chips after a day of cricket watching. As always the service was efficient and really friendly. We each had a grilled fish pack with chips and salad. I had Greek Salad, the husband quinoa salad(which I had a mouthful of to try). Everything was delicious! Service was lovely; they checked a few times to see if everything was to our liking and asked how our meals were yet again as our plates were cleared. No teething issues for this new place — they have really hit the ground running(although not surprising given this is their 5th shop)! Let’s hope it continues as we’re super pleased to have a heathy fish takeaway option closer to home!
