I have been here more times than i can count, have never been dissappointed. Finally joined the club, which i will endeavour to use often. This time just 4 dozen oysters and fussy girlfriend very happy with her chips, loved it. Great place any time of the year — try and get invited to the bingeing sessions. You ll see.

Awesome restaurant and they also sell their produce on the side. The flavours are simple and letting the freshness of the seafood do most of the talking. Our waiter was great, recommending what to eat and what wine to have etc. We decided to stop by for a dozen oysters, and it ended up being a huge meal… We had the saganaki, a dozen oysters and a grazing platter which has oysters, bugs, prawns, sashimi, salmon rillets. Everything felt so fresh and delicious.

There are so many things to love about this place! Starting with the casual ambiance, there are all sorts of people here, from the suits and tailored dresses to jeans, kids and everything in between. It’s a friendly, neighbourhood spot that hits the mark where it counts. One side boasts a retail shop for fresh seafood to take away, along with some seafood essentials for the kitchen. There is also catering available, so you can truly have an authentic experience for your next event. What I came here for was a delicious meal of only the freshest and best seafood. That was exactly what I had. The menu was pretty big, so trying to decide what to get is really your only concern. My mate and I went for an oyster appetiser followed by a seafood platter. We wanted to sample everything, so got all 4 types of the hot oysters. My personal favourites were the baked kewpie mayo with soy sauce and seaweed flakes and the mornay, béchamel cheese crusted. These went down oh-so-quickly. All the flavours combined really nicely together. For the seafood platter, you get a bit of everything, literally! Two types of sautéed fish, fried calamari, grilled octopus, large prawns and scallops scampi, mussels in a slurp-worthy tomato broth, fresh oysters on the half shell, smoked trout on bread and moreton bay bugs. It was my first time trying these and they were great with a creamy sauce and fish eggs. The servers were good about checking in on us during the meal. It was hard to get our takeaway boxes and cheque when it was time to go, as they were super busy. All things considered, this is a lovely spot with excellent food and I can’t wait to come back and try something new. Just as soon as I wake from my current food coma…

Good take away fish and chips packs for lunch. The fish is good. I would not bother eating in tho. The whole resturant is basically in the fish shop. So it is a noisy tiled environment that smells like dining on a fishing trawler.

Not that good, would have thought standard was higher given they are a large oyster supply business… Wouldn’t recommend for the price, plenty of other options for same price in Melbourne with better oysters.

Amazing, amazing, amazing seafood! Let me start by justifying the 4 star rating. I’ve been coming here for years and unfortunately have been away for the last 17 months. In that time they have almost doubled the seating. I understand they’re trying to maiximise the business, but I preferred it when there were a lot less patrons and not as loud and bustling. Service was very attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. Very good selection of fresh seafood(hot & cold dishes) and if you’re like me and no one wants to share a ‘seafood platter’, just build your own! :) Tip — in my opinion, it’s best to come in Thursday, Friday or Saturday for best selection and earlier than later to ensure you have a choice of ALL available fish. Parking can be a bit tough and always easier and environmentally friendly to take a tram.

Went here with some friends from Melborne in early Janauary. They were out of several types of oysters and the ones we got were pretty fair(local sourced but forget the name). The seafood dish was large but just average by my gf’s standards. prices are pretty high for the quality of food.

If you love seafood and have some money to spend you can not go past Richmond oysters. Fresh fresh fresh seafood, wonderful specials(oyster bloody mary shot anyone) & fantastic service. I am yet to have a bad meal here & have almost tried the whole menu. The tuna steak is my fave so far. The expresso martini is fantastic & instantly fixes a bad hangover.

Now if you are looking for a nice, big seafood dinner, this is your place. Not unreasonable priced, Richmond Oysters a situated just north of the Yarra on Church St. Nice little area and just up from one of my favourite cafés Top Paddock. They’ve a huge range to choose from with plenty that you can take home. This place doubles up as a restaurant and a fishmongery(not sure if that is a word). I wasn’t too sure at first because there were people coming and going as we were ordering entrée but that seemed to die down as the night went on. I had the seafood basket and was pretty happy with what I got. I even ate the garden salad which is unlike me. It wasn’t as posh as I was expecting but it went down a treat. I was so full at the end of it. Somehow, I manages to fit in a cholocate pudding. There’s always room.

he dozen oysters 3 ways arrive and look lovely, you can choose from 5 ways including natural, Kilpatrick, Mornay, Japanese and Tempura, our Japanese panko crumbed with wasabi and soy are a hit! Super crunchy jacket and creamy happy oyster inside. The Kilpatrick were recommended but didn’t do so much for me, the natural are all good! The linguini looks fabulous and my friend is happily tucking in as we admire the chowder and mussel bowls… read more at my blog

Once again, reviewing from a vegetarian’s point of view — this place is a seafood restaurant, and there is fish everywhere in display fridges, and it does smell a little fishy in there. But at least all of the seafood does look very fresh. I was taken there with a group of people who planned to go to eat fish and chips, but I ended up having the vegetarian risotto and it was delicious. Nice and creamy and full of mushroom, and pumpkin, and pine nuts, and garlic, and fresh herbs… mmmm…

Do not ponce about with the sushi. Don’t be safe and just get fish and chips. When you come to this establishment, a seafood wholesaler who saw a niche and expanded into a restaurant/fishmonger, don’t skimp, and go straight for the epic seafood platter. At $ 99, it’s not a cheap dinner, but you will not for a moment question the value for money. Two tiers high, with fish, crab, oysters, calamari, prawns, moreton bay bugs AND mussels(phew), it’s colossal and will satisfy any real seafood craving. The place doesnt have a heck of a lot of atmosphere — a stark, minimalist clean space with limited tables, but it’s really about the food they’re serving.
