Always looking for an excuse to go out with friends so when I received a brochure advertising a VIP shopping experience at Wohlers, I had to look more closely! If you can get a group of friends together(a minimum of 10), Wohlers offer you 20% discount on your purchases and free coffee and cake in their café ‘Rumours’. There were 15 of us and we were met at the door on arrival, given a warm welcome and handed a badge which identified us as VIP shoppers plus an envelope containing coupons and other discounts. You are free to wander the store for as long as you like and there is lots to look at — beautiful kitchenware, gifts, even clothes and gorgeous handbags. Other than the 20% discount, there was plenty of items on sale(the discount does not apply to those) but the prices were very good. They will also gift wrap your purchases at no charge. We went to the Richmond store but the Tanunda branch offer the same deal. We had a great day — and we’ll be back!

Honestly I can’t tell you much about the shop itself except it has heaps of stuff and most of it is maybe a little more pricey than I would pay for things. Plus it has lots of glass or delicate items on display, so not the kind of store I would take my kids into. However I did used to stop here maybe 3 out of 5 mornings a week on my way to work to grab coffee. They have their own café inside the store, with a spearate entrance as well as internal access. They make some really yummy food too, like doorstops! But their coffee is fantastic — especially if you get the young blonde chic to serve you(she was always there unless she was sick, and when she was sick the coffee was not the same). Am convinced it was so good becuase of the person making it rather than the ingredients, maybe it was also a little of the café milk but surely others use this milk and they’re not as good as here. The coffee is strong but still oh so creamy!

Another family owned business located in an unlikely shopping strip, they are so confident in their homeware and furniture that people will seek them out… and they do. There are two stores one in Richmond and the other in Tanunda starting off as a furniture manufacturer working with pine, oak, teak and mahogany built in a traditional conservative fashion. The quality is second to none, yes there is a higher price but that’s what you can expect to pay. At their Richmond store there is a large homewares range which will satisfy and whim from napkins to saucepans. If you’ve worked up an appetite or thirst Rumours café within the store make really nice coffee and light snacks. If you sign up for their loyalty card expect to recieve a point per dollar spent, the more you spend the more you get and that’s throughout the store. Also once a year towards Xmas a gift voucher is posted in the event you haven’t been back during the course of a year as an enticement and it works!
