I have totally fallen in love with Whipped! As a coeliac I often go into breakfast situations with justifiably low expectations. Gluten-free breakfast is always easily done but your stale gluten-free replacement bread just never quite packs the same punch as your friend or partners mouth-wateringly delicious sourdough, flatbread or brioche. But then along came Whipped. The gluten-free bread was amazing and left me not eyeing off my partners meal once(which is probably a record). I’ve been twice now and perhaps been boring in ordering the Wellness Breakfast twice but with Smashed avocado, poached eggs, mushrooms, roasted tomatoes, spinach, grilled haloumi on the gluten-free replacement for the sour-dough I couldn’t resist going back. The café itself is beautiful, fresh and clean and I love the outdoor setting. Both times I’ve been there have been dogs in the outdoor eating area which I loved but some may have an issue. Staff were really friendly and the coffee is brilliant! My only qualm is that food can take from 20 – 30 mins due to them being so busy so be prepared to stop for a while or reschedule if you’re in a rush. However I did receive warning before ordering and the coffees were prompt so it was still a great way to spend a weekend morning.

We haven’t been here for awhile so we thought we would give it another try. We got one of the big solid tables at the back and lasoo’d the big dog to the bench. The little one was happy to settle by our feet. Good service, even with slightly complicated orders. Good coffee. Good food. Good setting. John had the wellbeing breki poached and our friend had the whipped breakfast scrambled. The serves were massive. I had the egg and bacon roll(no bacon). Nice brioche bread. Nice tomato relish. Leftovers for the pups. We’ll be back and we won’t wait so long next time.

This was a favourite spot for a long time. But they have lost me for good. My last meal there was a breakfast meal with scrambled eggs and I swapped an ‘extra’ side item that comes with the meal for another ‘extra’ on the menu of the same value. On looking at the receipt I noticed they charged me extra for scrambled eggs(WTF!?) and for the item I swapped from the menu(not uncommon but the waitress didn’t mention an extra cost at the counter). Extra costs aside, not being told about either of these extras left a sour taste.

Sadly I was totally disappointed with my experience at Whipped. I had high hopes when I walked in and saw the gorgeous décor and wonderful selection of cakes in the display however when it came time to order, things went down hill. They had a delicious looking strawberry smoothie promoted on a board on their wall and it immediately caught my eye, however when going to order I was told that it was no longer available — here’s the thing though; don’t promote something on the wall(that can easily be removed from it) if you don’t have it! I’ve worked in hospitality and when you run out of a ‘special’, you take the promo down! I was told the banana smoothie was nice so I reluctantly changed my mind. My banana smoothie came out super quickly(almost too quickly) and by that time I’d decided that I was keen for that — until I had a sip — bleugrh! It tasted like it had been made with green bananas! Hardly any flavour and what I could taste was un-ripe fruit. What a waste! Many other options on the menu looked tasty — but can I really trust a place that stuffs up a banana smoothie?!

A good café/coffee shop. The coffee was pretty mediocre, and it would have been nice if they had gotten our order right. But its Adelaide!

The last 3 times I have been here it seems that the customer service isn’t something that is important or the speed that they work at. Every time I come here I have issues with the coffee not being hot. The staff act like it’s an inconvenience for them to serve customers, geez sorry for making you do your job and they do take a long time to make coffee. My mum and I went there on a Sunday arvo around 4pm, there were already people sitting at a table eating and we were the only others in there and the staff were more concerned with finishing their conversation than making our coffee, we got them 15 minutes after we ordered them. I will return one more time and if it’s bad service and long waiting times I won’t be going back.

Its not very often that I find myself at Semaphore and when I have the opportunity, I’m always keen to scope out the local haunts. On a quiet Sunday afternoon, a friend and I poked our head in this funky looking café and was quite impressed with what we saw. The counter had a delicious array of baked goods on display and their menu looked inviting. The interior was fitted out with a wooden theme that stretched from the tabletops and clipboard style menu to the decks in their cool little outdoor area out the back. We chose to sit outside and peruse the menu, I love myself a good haloumi so went with the fried haloumi and smashed avocado on rye and a apple, carrot and ginger juice. Service was prompt and friendly, my food and drinks arrived in no time at all and visually I was quite impressed. My juice was served in a mason jar which is all the rage these days, it was cool and very refreshing and my lunch was perfect. I spied the burgers coming out and they looked huge! I will keep that in mind for next time. And dog owners take note, this place seems totally cool with you bringing your 4-legged friend to join you out the back. Totally pawsome!

Went to whipped for afternoon tea on a chilly Sunday afternoon. I had my dog with me so it’s great that whipped allows dogs not only out the front but also in the cute courtyard out the back. As it was cold there weren’t many people there and it was late arvo so the kitchen was closed so we all had cake and coffee. I had a gluten free choc brownie which the waitress kindly warmed for me. It was crunchy on the outside and all gooey and chocolately in the middle. Delish! My family both had muffins, which were very generous in size but looked a bit dry. My ice coffee was served in a ‘jam jar’ type set up which is trendy but meant a smaller serving. Overall the venue is cute, made better by allowing for my four legged friend. The service was quick and friendly and my brownie was delicious. We will go back :)

Came here for a coffee and cake before«doing» Semaphore. The service was good, the ambience quite good, not too many people as it was early. Our coffee and cake were very nice, but the breakfasts served to others looked fantastic, and I will be returning very soon to sample

Came here without booking and got a table straight away, despite the fact that it seemed to be quite popular. Really lovely place, the staff are very friendly, the setup is great and the food is delicious. They have a variety of different meals, and the produce is fresh & tasty. They offer gluten free, and vegetarian options. Good, fast service. Perfect place to come & enjoy a coffee & cupcake or a full meal. Recommend coming here!

Was really really hoping for something great here, but it was not to be. I ordered the eggs benadict and received burnt muffins, stuff all hollandaise and overcooked eggs. My friend’s burger was pretty limp and they forgot some of the ingredients. The coffees are usually great here and the décor/back area very inviting, but I won’t eat here again.

Its Saturday. You have this feel for a drive. So I suggest you drive to Semaphore, park on the beach and take a walk to the Main street — where you’ll come upon this more-busy-than-not delicious café. The Corn Fritters make me drool just thinking of them. The coffee is brewed well. There are sweets and treats and funky wall print inside, and umbrellas and bench tables out the back. its a great place to go solo, or with a small group. But be prepared to wait for food — this is a popular spot for Brunchers!

Whipped has recently been refurbished moving the coffee machine closer to the door — perhaps for the early morning takeaway crowd. The décor and atmosphere have always been good and remain so. Plenty of seating in front and further in — out the back as well if you venture that far. I ordered the Mexican style brunch — chorizo salsa, fried eggs, with toast — as well as a flat white … $ 17 for the brunch and $ 2.50 for the coffee. I’d describe the serving as pretty meagre — two pieces of small, thin toast and a salsa flavoured with three thin slices of chorizo in a small serving pan — quite flavoursome, but a skimming and not that filling for a $ 17 brunch. The coffee was reasonable — the blend was smooth and not at all bitter. I’ve eaten at Whipped previously and their servings have been more generous, so I’m not sure if this new frugality is a one-off or the sign of a new direction. 2.5 stars …

This restaurant-style café is a very nice change from the random stingy-looking cafes you find everywhere along places like Semaphore Road. Being so close to the beach its not always easy to find somewhere like this which does not only sell fish and chips. There is a good sized menu with a number of delicious sounding things to chose from. Their iced coffee was also note-worthy, served in these cute little fishbowl shaped glasses. The setting is very casual and inviting, and definitely one of the nicer looking places along this strip of shops.

Always popular and a great seaside location, the food and service I’ve experienced here has been really good so far. The ambience is relaxing and inviting with decking out the back under the semi shade of a pergola and there are wooden outdoor settings with umbrella’s to the side. This is also a dog friendly café so if you are bringing your four legged family member, there is a narrow colourbond gate to the left of the shop. Outdoor seating is available, the immediate entry area has a long bench seat against the funky wall with tables and chairs opposite, another dining area further on and then the outside decked section. One thing that does irritate is the acoustics inside as the sound of a crying, screaming child shakes the brain and rolls the eye balls. As natural as it is for a child to cry — I should know — it does rattle the nerves when it’s someone elses! Whenever I come here I look forward to ordering brunch as I’m famished by this stage and have certainly built up an appetite, this is where The Big Breakfast certainly satisfies. The coffee is good and the frappes are a treat, a wide selection of sweets available and on display for your perusal.

I always go this café for the cupcakes! They are amazing with so much flavour, big icing and lots of edible decorations. Whipped is located on the main street in Semaphore, adjacent to the esplanade, but really close walking distance to the beach. Semaphore is the perfect dog walking beach, so the fact that whipped is extremely dog friendly is perfect for me, especially because my dog is extremely friendly herself. It’s definitely nice to have a café other than an ice cream or chicken and chip shop, which serves better coffee, big breakfasts and has an ambiance about it other than sand. Definitely a place to check out when down at quiet Semaphore.
