This place is incredibly average. My boyfriend and I stop here occasionally when we want some quick japanese, but honestly… don’t go out of your way for it. The staff always seem confused and panicked, even if you’re the only customer in the restaurant — perhaps they have a successful take-away business? They have a happy hour special where you’ll receive edamame with an alcoholic drink purchase, but more often than not you have to remind them of this, as they’re more than happy to let your free soybeans slip through the cracks of their crappy service. They have some issues when it comes to pacing courses… for example they’ll bring out your rice first, when you have nothing else to eat it with. This has happened a few times(it’s a pet peeve of mine). The food itself is alright, nothing special, but unfortunately it’s the only sushi you’re going to find on Fitzroy st — you could probably find better food at a cheaper price if you went somewhere in the city, though.

I stopped by here for a quick lunch with a huge craving for some miso soup! It didnt dissapoint — super delicious, exactly how I like it. They do some really great lunch specials here, so I backed up the Miso soup with some prawn tempura and rice for only $ 10. It came with an un-named dipping sauce that was perfect with lots of flavour, and had me licking my lips for a good 45 minutes after I finished. They have some different items on the menu too, which apparently is what they are known for — something called a chicken Cali dog, which I believe is a spin on a regular california roll, and rice burgers top the list according to my waiter. Who was, by the way, very friendly and helpful with the menu. Might come back to try some soon!
