I have been here a few times and always enjoy it. This time I ordered the sushi/sashimi combo from the menu and it was nice and fresh. The hand rolls from the menu are also excellent. Sushiro is not ‘knock your socks off’ sushi but is good quality for a St Leonards sushi train — and convenient if you live nearby. I like that it is BYO, you can even bring along your own beers.

This new Japanese restaurant at St Leonards looks promising but sadly does not deliver. They market their sushi as fresh gourmet fusion but offer nothing out of the ordinary, all the sushi they have are standard fare at other sushi establishments. There was nothing fresh in the sea urchin, spicy grilled salmon and fried prawn which I ordered. The sea urchin ship was bland and made me throw away $ 6.80 of good money. The salmon was average, the fried prawn was cold and soggy. I sat at the sushi train which barely had anything, you had to order from staff. It’s not a bad thing but it defeats the purpose of having a sushi train. The green tea also was not the best. Nothing in my meal makes this restaurant worth going back to, especially with their prices. They offer lunch bento boxes starting at $ 14 but there’s not a lot of variety, your choices are limited to tempura, pork or chicken katsudon or a sushi set. They have other dishes but these are only available for dinner.
