Big commercial style pub really. Nothing special. Bring a big group and you’ll be right. Lots of open space and standard pricing.

This is a must place restaurant to go to if you’re staying in Surfers Paradise! It’s one of the more upscale places around, unlike a lot of the touristy spots. Amazing food and an even better view of the river! Very reasonably priced as well :)

Clean and friendly in a central location. Outstanding views of the canals off of the back Bistro deck and best of all good wholesome food for a good price. Definitely coming here again when I’m on the GC for a lunch steak.

Great place to take out of town guests. It is off the tourist track of Gold Coast but you can enjoy the sunshine with a view of the water while you dine. The first time I came Helm Bar was for a Unilocal event, but I remember the food and drinks were great so thought it would be a safe bet. Ocean Lovers platter was delicious and very fresh! Perfect to share with a group of 4 base there is four of everything:) Prawn pizza was very nicely done and a perfect entrée before the main spread arrived. Their selection of beer and cider is pretty standard, but there are a few craft brews in there to keep in interesting. And there is parking downstairs!!!

Went to Helm Bar late in the afternoon — just as the sun was setting. The river is golden in the late afternoon light and the music is good — the drinks are cold — we had a comfy couch on the riverside balcony — this is a great bar — we didn’t eat on this visit but there is an inviting looking dining area. It matches the Gold Coast feel with a great beach/boathouse feel– they also have gaming if that’s your thing

A nice big bar/restaurant overlooking the river. Lovely outside deck and plenty of seating. Friendly bar tenders and staff. Seem to have a diverse drinks menu with something for everyone. Food menu is decent and not too broad. I came here on Sunday night and it’s quiet and slow. Interestingly, the food and drinks have to be ordered at the bar yourself. Not sure if it’s a Sunday ritual or just the way it is here. Also, opening a tab with credit card requires you to not only surrender your card but also and ID plus one had to write their name and contact information on paper. You are then given an internal card that is used to «charge» your purchases. Seemed very odd and a bit labor intensive. Ordered a pizza — margarita and it was really thin crust. I would consider it just OK in taste. Probably would not order it again but they have other options typical for a bar.

Great view, delicious cocktails, and good beer selection. Didn’t try the food, so can’t vouch for that. I loved the various couch areas and the patio. Could have done without a dj playing electronic music starting at 7pm or whatever… even for fri, that’s a bit early. But overall, good vibe and reasonably priced

Great casual bar with a warm feel to it. Food is up scale and much better than any ‘pub food’ great range of selection. Plus being river side its a great place to be. Id go back each time i visit.
