Always Fruitful

It’s closing night of my play and like a chump I’m sick. I’m a sick chump. Nobody wants to be a sick chump.
So I decide that the only chance I have of clearing out my sinuses and soothing my throat is to have a juice. But not just any juice, a high in vitamin C juice and with lashings of Ginger.
I walk over to Always Fruitful a small Juice Bar and Café around the corner from the theatre. The owner of the establishment welcomes me, he leaves the conversation he’s having and walks behind the counter.
«What can I get for you?» he asks.
I tell him my predicament, with particular trouble when it comes to words with N or M in them, I am really blocked up. «I need ginger.» I tell him.
He tells me they’re out of ginger, like a dagger through the heart the news pierces me. I say to him that I’ll have to go somewhere else, somewhere with ginger, this is how badly I need ginger. I have singing and acting to do, I have to dance, I have to make with the funny.
He stops me mid thought, raises his finger to the sky. «Wait.» he says, «I will get you ginger.»
He runs around the counter and out of the shop. I stand there, following orders, waiting. I look around the place, they sell fresh kebabs, salads, coffee, an assortment of packaged foods… I’m cut off mid thought again, he rushes back in with a triumphant grin and a hand full of ginger. «I have your ginger!» he tells me.
He makes the juice, lemon, orange, ginger and beetroot. His own recommendation for my specific needs. He asks me to taste it first, make sure it’s okay, this can only mean that if it wasn’t he’d amend the juice. A rare juice service indeed.
It tastes great, I pay, thank him and am on my way to closing night. You couldn’t ask for better service than the owner running to the grocers for an ingredient that you require. I will definitely be back, if not for juice, for some of that delicious looking salad.
