Excellent roti and rendang — roti is light and wonderfully buttery and the rending is dense and spicy. Good teh tarik. Eating in a food court isn’t the nicest but I will do it for this roti!

I realized the ratings are generally much higher, and I can understand these ratings from others. As someone whose palate is Malaysian in origin, and having tasted 4 dishes from Alice’s, I would give the overall main dishes experience 3 Stars and be more selective with the dishes I order in future. The Roti with Chicken Curry and Roti with Beef Rendang were great. From what I understand/hear, Mamak’s Roti is freshly baked while Alice’s is from frozen bread. However, again from hearsay, Mamak’s curries that go with the Roti are very watered down(unlike Alice’s). Net, even if Alice’s Roti is from frozen bread, it didn’t take away anything from the taste. And the Chicken Curry and Beef Rendang were excellent(you need both to have that great taste experience). I preferred the Beef Rendang while my daughter preferred the Chicken Curry. The below average dishes were the Har Mee(prawn curry noodles) and Chicken Laksa were just ok. Both broths lacked the deep flavors and essence of prawn broth and coconut laksa respectively. The Onde Onde desert is absolutely divine. It’s filled with Gula Melaka(palm sugar). If you have never experienced that before, you are in for a REALTREAT. Linger over the taste. Gula Melaka is used in other popular Malaysian deserts like Chendol and Sago Pudding. Just put the whole Onde Onde ball into your mouth, don’t attempt to bite in half to avoid the Gula Melaka spurting out at your fellow diners or over your clothes! My wife raved about the curry puffs and radish cake too! From a Malaysian friend, all their deserts are fantastic and typically are sold out early. They also cater(my brother and brother in law have used their catering services for birthday parties). Alice’s is located in a food court, and accepts cash only.

Went here for a work lunch. Couldn’t go past the chicken curry with roti. The curry was great and the roti… ahhh the roti. Soft, light, buttery. Delicious. And all for 10 bucks! OK… its in a food court so you have to fight for a table(or get takeaway but the roti are so good the deserve to be eaten fresh) and its not the sort of place you would go for a nice dinner out or a date. But for a work lunch its great. Well priced, fast and friendly service and great food.

Good food and decent pricing. Roti with chicken curry for $ 10 is really good. The roti is mostly fresh with a nice chicken curry. The Hainan rice can also be recommended.

Decent Malaysian food and cheap. I usually come here for the $ 10 roti and curry chicken meal at lunch which is a very good deal. I do like this place more than Sedap nowadays, unfortunately it doesn’t seem to be open on weekends or past 7pm on weekdays but I guess its a good place to have lunch or early dinner during the week. The roti is quite decent, gives Mamak a good run for its money, although I don’t think its better as theres not as many varieties of Roti(that and Mamak is open for much longer)

My favourite thing to order from here is the roti canai with chicken curry($ 10). This dish has displaced the Mamak roti canai as my favourite roti canai in Sydney. Alice’s roti is much fluffier and more buttery than the Mamak roti, which can sometimes be a bit dry. If you want to order the roti on its own, it costs $ 2.50 per piece. The other dishes I have tried from here are the nasi lemak and the chicken laksa. Loved the nasi lemak, but the chicken laksa wasn’t quite up to scratch — it didn’t have enough tanginess to the broth, and there were far too many chilli flakes in it(I’m all for putting chilli in laksa, but these chilli flakes scratch your throat and get stuck in your teeth).
