Cloud 9 Chocolate Cafe

Chocolate Café, yes it’s as good as it sounds. Strolling down King Street after dinner my partner and I came across this place. You should always save room for dessert, but our full bellies where not going to stop us from trying this.
It was a quiet night, which was convenient for us as there is a good section to choose from, and we both like to take our time when making important and life changing decisions, like which two cookies to choose and which ice cream to place between them.
Very sweet and rich to the last bite, obviously. The chewy biscuit, when bitten down upon, forced the ice cream to be squished out of the sides. So be prepared and have an entire tissue box at your disposal.

Walking down the streets of Newtown, you can’t NOT be attracted to this beautiful gelato/​chocolate/​coffee shop. Their display of different flavors of gelato and cookies will make anyone go, «just take my money!!»
I decided to go for the ice cream slider, which is gelato sandwiched between two soft cookies with a drizzle of melted chocolate. Doesn’t that already make you drool?
I tried three different flavors which were all DELICIOUS, but I decided to settle with their honey flavored gelato. I sandwiched it between two soft chocolate chip cookies and a drizzle of milk chocolate. The milk chocolate hardens up right away from the temperature of the gelato.
I certainly wish my sweet tooth was bigger because the sandwich is massive! (In my perspective, of course.) I couldn’t finish it even though I really wanted to because there was just too much. But if you have a large sweet tooth, it’d be perfect!
I sat in the store for about 15 minutes before leaving. 3 minutes walking down the street later, the store owner runs after me with my bags that I carelessly forget in the shop. He could’ve easily left it there and waited until I realized and returned, but he actually ran after me and caught me before I hopped on the bus! Words can’t describe how thankful I was.
So next time you wanna satisfy your sweet tooth and you happen to be in Newtown, check this shop out! You won’t regret it!

Really great ice cream sandwich. Best kept secret is that you can get two different cookies as the outside! Also — staff is SUPER friendly.

Hmm… After long walk in NewTown and nice dinner then DIY your own biscuit icecream, trully joyful. We pop our own pecan maple cookies with vanilla dark choco swirll… pretty damn good.

This place is a neighborhood favorite for a reason. At $ 2.50 for a tolerable cup, the coffee alone is enough to bring you in the door, and you stay for the nice assortment of gelato (though not terribly inspired) and clever dessert combo options. Everything is cheaper than you’d expect for Sydney, and the welcoming atmosphere is a definite plus. I’d recommend it to you, but well, frankly, I don’t want the word to get out. Shh!

I had a craving for waffles and saw that chocolate shop. I had a scoop of fig and mascarpone ice cream. And dark chocolate with my waffle. Was pretty tasty. Didn’t think it was too sweet. I thought it was well balanced.

Other coffee shops were packed with people and this newly opened little Cloud 9 was craving some attention. We ordered hot chocolate and dessert and was pleasantly surprised by the great flavours of both and the very quick service.
The little café was clean and fresh with a bright atmosphere. People were happily enjoying the snacks and some were engrossed in their own world.

Was walking down King Street after dinner and noticed this place so I decided to pop in.
As the name suggests, this is a chocolate café so they have all kinds of chocolate… you can even take a shot of chocolate for $ 1.
I passed on that and decided to go for their signature gelato slider. This comes in two iterations, either in between two cookies of your choosing, varying from vanilla chocolate chip, to triple chocolate, to macadamia nut and a few others that escape me… or in a small brioche bun. They have 12 flavours of gelato to choose from (it’s pretty average) and I opted for cookies and cream in two vanilla chocolate chip cookies.
Not going to lie, it’s pretty tasty but a bit too sweet. Each bite feels like you’re getting that much closer to getting instant diabetes.
If you’re keen for a sugar or chocolate hit, definitely check this place out. The gelato is OK, the chocolate is better.
