Awesome little courtyard for a quite, low-key, brunch. Food was excellent and prices were reasonable

I’m torn on this place… On one hand, they’re incredibly rude– it’s as if they know they’re the only decently priced place in the rocks and one of the only non touristy places and as a result think they can talk down to people. The food also takes forever to get– a friend and I waited 40 minutes for our lunch one day in the courtyard, with no apologies for the long wait. On the other hand, the food is halfway decent and as mentioned above pretty fairly priced(especially for the rocks). The omelette is a pretty good choice for $ 12, as are their takeaway salads for lunch(also around that much). I wouldn’t recommend actually eating at one of their tables as they charge an extra $ 4 for you to sit down, but if you’re in a pinch and in need of food while you’re in the rocks I’d suck it up and pay them a visit.

The best apple cinnamon muffin I’ve ever had– giant sized too! Very friendly waitstaff and the sausage and egg sandwich was very good too!

One of the most reasonably priced lunch places in The Rocks. Quinoa Salad was fantastic — they add yogurt and pumpkin to it — awesome touch! Their salads are jampacked & typically overflowing — so the small size is typically pretty good for a female. Their wraps are a little weak compared to their other offerings but it was still yummy. They also offer gluten free options. Plenty of seating in the shaded, rock-walled courtyard and indoors. A little too much shade in the courtyard for my liking, but will be a great alternative when it gets super hot out.

I give this café 4 stars because I love their coffee and their breakfast! I don’t trust a café that doesn’t serve all day breakfast but Swaggies does so I love them even more for it! Today was the first time I tried their regular menu and I was underwhelmed by the chicken burger. The flavours were great but the brioche bun was way to sweet for my liking. That being said their coffee and their breakfasts in my opinion have always been consistent and I love the quiet courtyard which is particularly nice on a market day… away from the crowds and the noise!

Friendly service, the barista is fun to watch work. Get the Swagman’s brekkie for a proper English breakfast. Can’t go wrong with the French Toast either.

Hidden courtyard at the back is a great spot for Sunday breakfast

Since my usual choice for tea and scones in the neighbourhood was closed, and I saw Swagman’s had a sign advertising Devonshire tea I stopped here instead. While the scones themselves were ok, they were served with canned whipped cream(as opposed to the heavier cream that you would usually expect).Tried a few other things on the menu, which turned out to be equally ho-hum. Nothing wrong with the place on the whole, just generally uninspiring. Nice courtyard in the back, but little ambiance besides that(and playing talk radio in the background didn’t really help).

Now Unilocal has made it down under I can finally give this little spot some well-deserved credit. Rather than break out the big boy money for breakfast at the Four Seasons, my fiancée and I traipsed down George Street to Swagmans Post for a proper fry-up. The food was solid, but what made this place such a charmer was the outdoor courtyard in back. Quiet and secluded and not very busy in the morning hours. On one occasion our sole dining companions were some quite vocal myna birds. Highly recommended!

Decent food here. There’ s an open area at the back away from the road, there’s a pleasant rock face, some greenery and the historic houses so it has a nice atmosphere, somewhat ruined by the cheap chairs, tables and umbrellas. The food is your standard café menu with a couple of specials that weren’t too interesting when I was there. The devonshire tea was good though, generously sized tasty scones.

This Rocks lunchtime spot does GREAT café style food. It is hard to say what it is about this place that makes their sandwiches and salads so delicious, but I can assure you they are certainly above average. It might be the abundance of the food that they serve which makes it so good. I recently ordered a Caesar Salad and let’s be honest, that is a pretty stock standard lunch choice, This Caesar however, the thinly sliced grilled chicken with oversize cuts of bacon mixed with crispy cos lettuce and large croutons was SOGOOD! It didn’t come cheap however at $ 11 which is a bit more than your average $ 7 sandwich. That said, this place isn’t a tourist trap like many of the places in The Rocks, so it comes highly recommended for a lunch pit stop.
