History
Established in 2007.
It has been said that the sailing ship is man’s most beautiful creation. To see a ship under sail upon the ocean is a breathtaking sight. To stand upon the deck and see the sails above and the sights of Sydney and our beautiful harbour all around, is something to behold.
Two local families purchased the first ship of Sydney Harbour Tall Ship’s fleet, the Southern Swan, in 2007 because of the passion they have for our maritime history and the joy of sharing the experience of sailing these vessels from a past era. It was feared the ship might be sold overseas, as was the fate of the Bounty, or allowed to slowly rot away like the New Endeavour in the mid ’80’s.
