Thorntons Recycling

Thornton’s is my local recycling stop — you can get some quick cash for scrap metal or plastic bottles and cans, so we always collect them in the backyard. As well as using Thornton’s for home waste, you can order a truck to stop by to take your business’s bottles and cans. I have used Thornton’s in this capacity after runnings big gigs and parties at galleries in the city.
In my experience their truck service can be a little unreliable — they give very wide time margins for when they will pickup, so you’ll probably need to plan ahead. They also ask that you have the bins out and ready to go, which is a little annoying if you aren’t supposed to leave bins out the front of your business for long periods during the day. The employees who have come by to pick stuff up are very friendly, and despite the inconveniences I suspect that any other company would be much the same.

You’ve got to love the whole recycling thing really. I mean it is pretty simple to do and here in this little area of Thebarton there are all the bases covered, scrap metal and plastic — separate businesses to bring them to, but close enough to make the trip worth the effort; and speaking of effort we are talking about sustainability aren’t we, so everything works out well in the end.
They work hard and fast with the plastic bottles at Thorntons, and the cans, so you should not have to wait too long and you can go with some cash in hand and the good feeling you get when you know you have stopped something becoming meaningless waste.
