I have a penchant for old industrial furniture — there is just an understated cool about it. Trouble is, it can be very hard to find. You might get the odd piece at a market or an antique store but there isn’t any real place that has a whole heap of it… except Doug Up On Bourke! When you walk inside you soon realise you’ve landed in some sort of rustic, industrial furniture heaven with long tables, mix matched chairs, restored crates, glass medicine bottles all vying for a bit of space in this packed warehouse. With that said this isn’t a place for a quick shop, really you need to be prepared to spend a couple of hours in here rummaging through the goods. Now, this sort of stuff doesn’t come cheap, so don’t expect to be paying garage sale prices. All the furniture has been restored by hand so you’re getting something truly beautiful and unique. If you don’t fancy it forever then you can hire anything at Doug Up On Bourke for one third of the retail price — kinda cool huh!
