Grumpy Baker has been under new ownership for a good few months now, and I’m finally gettin around to updating my review. MUCH BETTER! The coffee is better quality, as are the pastries, the service is faster and friendlier, and the staff are much nicer. It is cash only, but they have put in an ATM machine, so no dramas there. If you’re in the neighborhood, I recommend it!

We wanted a coffee and a meat pie. We got both. Only one was good.
The latte was nice. The meat pie was soggy after being microwaved. Blech.

Coffee is so so, but depends on who is working at the time
Food order can be hit and miss sometimes so make sure they understood your request. They have a range of pastry items which are cooked on site, as well as fresh bread if you need something to take home.
Wobbly tables out the front but nothing a rolled up serviette will not fix. Good place to sit and watch people coming and going, or grab a coffee on your way to work as the train station is right next door.
