One of the friendliest little bars in West End, always rotating the beers on their 12 taps, there’s something new and delicious to try each time you go there. Friendly staff and owner who know their drinks.

Ron Burgandy might be all about the«Scotchy, Scotch, Scotch, Scotch» but my leather bound books and I are more about the«Gin, Ginny, Gin, Gin» and thankfully Bosc. is a gin-toting bar slinging my kind of drink. I recently visited Bosc. for a Unilocal meetup and contentedly sipped on my Gin & Tonic with a slice of capsicum. Yep, you read right. Capsicum. Don’t knock it til you’ve tried it, okay? They were out of my favourite, West Winds, on the night I visited but the bartender promptly swapped it out for a nip of Martin Miller’s London Dry. I’d not had it before but it’s a tipple I’ll gladly sip again. At the moment there’s only drinks but with a kitchen coming in the new year, there’ll be a bar menu to help balance the drinks with some delicious eats. It’s a local bar with a community feel. It’s a top spot to catch up with friends, actually hear the conversation you’re having and enjoy top-notch drinks as you do so.

My friend invited me out to the opening weekend of Bosc and I would have to say it’s a great little addition to West End. It’s a few blocks off of the main Vulture and Boundary intersection and placed right at the corner. You have to look for it to be able to find it. They offer you specialty gin cocktails, fine wine, and locally crafted beers that change monthly. They call it a ‘Tap Takeover’ and bring in more unique craft beers. I think it’s a pretty cool idea especially for the beer experts out there. I’m a big gin fan and tried their Sweet Disposition that had gin, lime juice, mint leaves, and rosemary syrup. It tasted pretty limey which I love and as you kept drinking, the gin started to reveal itself even more. I liked it but it was pretty pricey. My friends ordered the Apple and Ginger Hills Cider. They liked it but didn’t love it. My friends mixed the apple and ginger cider with vodka and was very pleased! It was fun to see such a creative menu and even my friend who orders beer often– didn’t recognize the beers on tap and just asked the bartender for a recommendation. For opening weekend, the came by and served us an array for small bites that were pretty darn delicious. I loved the mini meat pies, coconut shrimp, and cheese platter! The cheese platter was most excellent and I would probably order it next time I came. The vegetarian fried egg rolls were OK. As the evening went on, more and more came in and it’s a perfect addition to West End that offers some unique items. I really like how the beers will change and makes me want to come back next month to see what they offer. So glad we tried out a new place in West End!
