Came in to get bread and croissants. Paid $ 33 for 3 baguettes and 2 croissant. I think the surcharge was 8 $. I could see the girl putting miscellaneous charges on the pos system. Was charged numerous times a surcharge? Couldnt ask as they were super busy for coffee. And didnt want to make a scene… Croissant was soooo dry like day old. Really dissapointed as we were highly recommended… Baguettes were nice but cant get past the surcharge for going in on a sunday! I cant handle surcharges in a business/industry that should open 7 days. If you want to charge a surcharge Don’t open

Have been here a few times. Both the food and coffee and lovely. The staff are super friendly too, however the past two times I’ve been there they forgot my order. The last time I asked 3 times and waited an hour before I finally had to ask for a refund. Staff were very apologetic and apologised profusely. Am a little jaded as this happened twice but I’m sure I’m just unlucky!

Love this little spot. Coffee is delicious. Great GF and organic choices. Not had a meal yet, from what I see they look over sized, fresh and delish. I have munched on the GF passion fruit cheesecake slice = yum, and a GF cranberry cookie = ok. Only downside it can get a little crowded. But has not deterred me yet. :)

When Sol Breads disappeared from Paddington, I was practically breathing into a paper bag. Where would I get my bread? More importantly, where would I get my CORNBREAD? Sol breads is the only place I know of in Brisbane where you can buy a loaf of corn bread. Sure, you can order a slice or two of corn toast in the odd coffee shop, but when it comes to corn bread, a slice or two is not enough. I was relieved to discover Sol Breads in West End, and even though it’s over the river from me I often come here to buy a loaf or two of their wonderful artisan breads. Sol Breads is a great place to visit if you’re planning a lunch or dinner party because they have an amazing variety of delicious breads and also cater really well to the whole wheat free/dairy free/gluten free situation. The staff seem genuinely happy to work here, and why wouldn’t they? All that free bread. Mmmm. Whenever I buy bread here, I make sure to sit down and have a drink and a piece of cake or a sandwich. They do a great breakfast too. You just can’t fault these guys!

Although bread is always listed as one of the Evil Foods, I cannot possibly pigeonhole the loaves from Sol amongst its other, naughtier counterparts(namely white, supermarket bread). The sourdough bread made by Sol is chemical free, additive free, yeast free and enviro friendly. And you can get gluten free varieties. To me(IBS are my middle initials), this is a hero food, not a villain. Bring it on! You can eat in this cute café, come gallery(when I was there they had some paintings by local artists on the wall and were advertising for others). I highly recommend the Cinnamon French Toast with fruit, yoghurt and honey. And you can also buy your weekly bread supply here, or order direct from their fantastic website. I also loved their festive hampers — my fave was $ 65 and inside you get things like wild figs, organic mince pies; a house-made dukkah, a $ 10 bread voucher to name a few. I well and truly got my carb-head back on in here.

I’m eating a big ass sandwich right now and I’m thinking, ‘This bread is bad-ass’. I ask my house mate, Cheebo, ’ HEY, CHEEBOWHEREYOUGETTHISBREAD?’ and Cheebo can’t reply cause he’s eating the bread too. It’s a god damn breadathon but I look at the bag it’s in and it says, ‘Sol Breads’. It’s fairly amazing bread, I’ll give em that. The staff, which seem family run, are extremely nice and the actual shop itself is really clean and well lit. It’s not a grab and run sort of bakery — I could have coffee here and read a paper while chewing on any number of delicious things they’ve got available. The price isn’t too bad, it’s a little high but it’s completely worth it. If you’ve got the dollars, definitely worth a go.

Cheery staff, delicious sourdough bread, great coffee and wholesome breakfast options have seen me darken the door to Sol Breads on many a weekend morn. The filled croissants, sandwiches and sourdough pizzas are all deliciously fresh and wholesome. Washed down with an ethically-sourced and lovingly made soy latte it makes a healthy-feeling alternative to a full-on fried ‘heart attack’ brekky. They also have there own little outdoor garden growing herbs and some vegetables, which as I understand it are actually used in the food preparation. There are some rough timber tables and benches outside that you can sit on and enjoy your meal wth a view of the garden. Price is pretty good too with the above mentioned breakfasts leaving you with change from a $ 20 note. No wonder I always leave in a sunny mood!

From their humble beginnings in a garage in West End, Sol breads has come a long way with 3 stores in Brisbane and a cult following. The ethos of this bakery is something to be admired and is truly in the spirit of West End, Organic natural and of high quality, I love Sol breads for the range of products that they give me. Gluten-Free, wild, polenta, mega grain, wholemeal, sourdough and spelt, rice or with Kamut flour The possibilities are endless! The café is relaxed and friendly with the breakfasts here being really good, from chunky fruit toast and cinnamon & honey ricotta to a range of muffin’s and croissants. I usually get the fragrant and dense Olive and rosemary loaf, but always stare longingly into their dessert fridge. Sol has also opened up an online store with deliveries so you have no excuse not to trial out their delicious range. And with reasonable prices, friendly staff and a quality product What more could you want?
