Design A Space: I’m a Fan.
On holiday in Melbourne, I first hunted this place down because nancybird’s website said their bags and wallets were stocked here. When I got to Design A Space, I found their bags on a giant cascading display of hooked bags at the front of the store, but I couldn’t see their wallets anywhere. I poured over every nook and cranny, searching… finding amazing things that I really wanted to buy, but none of them were nancybird’s wallets. So I asked the lovely lady at the register, who immediately ran out the back and brought back a whole container full of wallets for me to spend the next fifteen minutes pouring through. PERFECT.
Once I’d finally decided on the wallet I wanted (with some assistance I was grateful for), I then did another round of the store and grabbed a couple of other things that had caught my eye: a beautiful cloud ring and a lairy printed scarf with horses on it. LOVE IT.
I love that Design A Space is kind of like a curated gallery for designers to BYO. Each little cube is full of someone else’s wares, the store is just there to hold them all together. A beautiful big space on bustling Chapel Street, perfect for browsing your life away.

Fashion Label: Mister Zimi
I have only had the most pleasant experiences with Miser Zimi (Zoe Paul) and her range. Mister Zimi is a label that caters for the dedicated fashion conscious individual while making it all seem so effortless. Her style creates the notion that your story can be told across many landscapes. Whether is the rugged Australian Outback, the tranquil Balinese rainforest or for that cosmopolitan city style, Mister Zimi shines in all its versatility.
Mistier Zimi was created on a holiday expedition to Bali so naturally this is wear its roots lie. The product is also a reflection of hard work & dedication and since then she has never looked back. Mister Zimi can be seen at a select few stockist, Design A Space included, but the majority of the range can be purchased directly from her website and what would be wholesale price.

When I’m in the mood to shop for new fashion that I know no one else will ever find, I head straight to Design a space. This quirky little store which opened in 2006, has a creative retail concept that works three ways. 1) It offers independent Australian designers an affordable option to showcase and promote their talent. 2) It allows the owners to support over 100 local independent designers, providing exciting of fashion and accessories at one venue. 3) It gives shoppers like me the chance to buy one-​off pieces without the huge price tag. Everyone wins!
I love the eclectic choice that offers a different experience every time so shopping is never boring here. Currently, I’m eyeing a ruffle top blouse and two dresses, and I know if I don’t act fast, I will probably lose out on the opportunity. I also love the wicked array of designer jewellery pieces and too-​cute kid’s clothes.
