Are you sick of your bars being built with all new materials? I know it really grinds my gears, jerks my chain, tugs on my tampon, pushes my buttons and so on and so forth. That’s why I was delighted when Killing Time opened, because it’s made of 100% recycled materials. Look, I am joking about giving the slightest rat’s behind, but there’s no harm in supporting a place that is trying to keep our little planet alive. And so I went. Get ready for grunge, there’s no ‘new’ feel created out of the old, but it’s a really relaxed place to get a decent drink. I think it’s yet to get pumping, although I visited on a weeknight, but I feel this place has a lot of potential. So if recycling is important to you, I think you should support the place that takes it to the next level.

Killing Time is one of those typical hidden Melbourne bars, despite being located on busy Chapel Street its hard to tell if this place is actually open or closed! It seems the owners open whenever they feel like having a party, but it is safe to assume they will be open in the early hours of Sunday morning, followed by their signature Sunday session through the next day. Killing Time is a relaxed, quirky bar that gives the feeling you are sitting back and drinking with mates in your own lounge room. Owner Cam Smith has chosen to decorate the bar with collectable his has picked up over the years, even items he has salvaged from hard rubbish! Killing Time has often been renown for booking big international dj’s for a once off secret gig, so if you are in the area and looking for a party, dance your party feet down to windsor and see what else might await you.
