We enjoyed a lovely tasting here. We got there a little late in the day but the ladies behind the counter were extremely friendly and helpful. There is a $ 5 charge for a tasting but it’s waived if you make a purchase. We chose the Estate Grown Cab Sav. You can try all of their wines. It’s a very generous tasting. They have cheese plates available for purchase. If we had more time we would have definitely tried some of the cheeses. Shelly was extremely helpful and told us about good places to go — like White Rabbit Brewery and the Chocolaterier that are nearby.

I’ve got to say being a wino, its pretty underwhelming when you go to a winery and they try to ‘teach’ you how to taste wine. Hey, I know a good wine from a bad one, ok? None of that nonsense here, you rock up to these beautiful gardens and playground(if u have kids) and get yourself a massive cheese platter for $ 16.50 with excellent figs as an additional and away you start tasting. There were about 25 wines on the tasting menu and we tasted them ALL. Their Noble One is the highlight, but I already had that stocked in the fridge. They had a special on for the Valentino for $ 6 a bottle and it was damn good. Also ended up buying the muscat for $ 25 — was as good as a Pedro Ximienez. All the tastings ended up being for free and even though this was only our second winery of the day, we had enough wine to be napping in the car 10 minutes later :) Excellent surroundings, some excellent, reasonably priced wines, reasonably priced cheese and an overall excellent day out!

we were there with a group for lunch. The fresh bread and fresh cheese was amazing. The mains were delicious and wines of course.

I absolutely love De Bortoli’s products — their Noble One is world renowned, for good reason. The estate: stunning. Recently, they started offering cheeses for sale as well, and having sampled them just the other day, I can confirm they’re as remarkable as the incredible array of wines on offer. De Bortoli has sometimes been criticised for being a «big name» producer with a bit more of an industrial slant in the Yarra; I don’t share that criticism at all. The staff is incredibly dedicated, LOVE their work, and are eager to share their product with newcomers. I’ve never had dinner here, but would love to, someday — the only catch with the property is that because it IS so popular, if you don’t time your visit just right, the tasting room can be very busy, and it’s a bit tough to have the sort of relaxed experience that wine tastings so often benefit from. If you can, try to book in advance, get some private time with the staff, and truly enjoy the experience.

The De Bortoli Yarra Valley Estate is hands down one of the most beautiful wineries in the area, offering tastings and access to an enviable cheese room from 10am — 5pm daily and boasting a restaurant that is nothing short of sublime. I went for dinner at De Bortoli’s restaurant earlier this year and the modern Italian inspired menu was beautiful. Fine dining at its laid back best, De Bortoli’s dishes are cooked to perfection and the vineyard’s award winning wine is delicious. Dinner for two with rather a lot of wine will set you back in the region of $ 150 and, predictably, the service is exceptional. The restaurant itself is elegant, upmarket and charming without being too scary and De Bortoli is the perfect place for a romantic dinner in the Yarra Valley. All-round excellent.
