Hampshire Hotel – O Sud Antwerpen

What a fantastic place — the location is on a cute little circle/​square, and walking distance to everything you’d want to see. Not overly touristy like the Kathedral location. Design is beautiful and modern, the breakfast is delicious, huge, and affordable (the croissants are the best I have ever had — beating out even parisian ones — try combining the strawberry jam and the brie on the included cheese/​meat plate to make a sweet salty delight). The staff is super friendly and fairly attentive by Euro standards.
We stayed in the Sensual Room, which has a double seater whirlpool tub, and large windows to the square. The room was beautiful, the bath fantastic, and the décor is ultra modern. The one big issue is that the windows don’t open, and the room steams up. I’d read about this in reviews and thought it would be fine, but on our last day the AC stopped working, and we literally opened the door to the hallway because we were sweating. Also, the sink is flat, so water sits in the bottom of it, and they could use more towel racks. Design trumped functionality a little bit — but as my 5 stars attest, I still think this place is fantastic.
