Wasbar Antwerpen

I am traveling in Europe and just got to Antwerp and needed to wash. Our flat that we rented have us this suggestion. I was expecting just a laundromat so when I got this, I was so happy. I could relax, have a drink and wash at the same time. I love this place and the Cosmo I ordered was pretty good and the staff helped me figure out the machines. I haven’t gotten the bill so I’m not sure how much the washing will be but even if it is more than a regular laundromat, it was worth it for the atmosphere.

Even though the concept and the interior design are very cool (café/​launderette) and it is well located, it’s too expensive for what you actually get. Pumpkin soup was very oily and probably was the worst soup I’ve eaten in Antwerp. Even though I really liked the spacious and nicely designed interior, I don’t think I’ll go there again.

J’ai connu le Wasbar lors d’un week-​end à Anvers. Une laverie qui fait coffee shop où tu peux te poser pour prendre un verre, un café ou manger sur le pouce.
Le décor est très très cool. C’est tellement bien décoré que les machines à laver passent au second plan et on oublie le fait que c’est une laverie «moderne». J’y étais pour prendre une limonade, ils ont une belle carte mais vu que tout est en néerlandais, c’est pas très très pratique. Le service est rapide (bon il y avait pas énormément de monde non pus…). Seul bémol: au moment de payer, il m’annonce qu’ils prennent que la CB. What? Celle-​là, on me l’avait jamais faite quand même.
Le Wasbar est à tester uniquement pour contempler la déco et pour prendre un verre (l’été, tu as des transats à l’extérieur) en faisant sa lessive. Concept original.

Une laverie, ce n’est pas forcément l’endroit le + sexy qui soit, sauf si tu es une fille et que tu étais (pré-)ado dans les années 80, auquel cas, le mot «laverie «éveille automatiquement en toi des souvenirs d’un certain Nick Kamen et de son Levi’s, je né pense pas avoir besoin d’en dire bcp + !
Bref, mis à part cette image-​là (que tu auras maintenant en tête pour le reste de la journée, non non, né me remercie pas), les laveries, c’est plutôt un endroit cracra, pas gai, bruyant, allez, n’ayons pas peur des mots… carrément emmerdant ! Sauf le Wasbar, chaîné de laveries dans lesquelles tu peux d’ailleurs te rendre même sans avoir de linge à laver, juste pour prendre un café ou un lunch dans un endroit cosy qui fait penser au Perk Café (si tu n’étais pas ado ou jeune adulte dans les années 90, tu né sais pas de quoi je parle, tant pis pour toi), avec des tubes des années 60 en musique de fond.
Et donc si en + tu as du linge à laver, hé bien il y a une série de machines rutilantes qui n’attendent qu’à être mises en route tout le long des murs, avec des produits Ecover en prime. Bref, c’est un endroit où il fait bon vivre et ça te fera définitivement revoir ton jugement sur les laveries d’antan (Nick, si tu me lis, je veux bien ton numéro !).

It’s a Saturday late morning/​early afternoon and I am looking for shelter from the rain at Wasbar. This café/​launderette is exactly what I was craving. It has a cozy sunny (despite last Saturday’s cold weather), open interior worth visiting for the nice, laid-​back vibe alone.
The ham n’ cheese sandwich (with its delicious bread and side radish salad) is a must, as are the waffles (topping bar included). We also ordered a chicken soup, comfort food at its best.
A really cool place to hang out — loved the armchairs along the window!

Wasbar is a washateria/​store/​coffee place in a nice neighborhood in Antwerp. A lot of light, friendly atmosphere, although I thought it was a little overpriced. You get a cookie and a marshmallow with every warm drink.

15 mins to hear the waiter saying, the brunch will be over in 10 mins (at 14:00), so you’ll have to wait for 20 minutes to order and then 20 mins after (at 14:10) hearing from the waitress that they only have pasta and salads is quite an experience for your nerves, not for your mouth cause you only get a caramel latte to drink without the caramel…

Wasbar is a Amazing concept and so happy to finally have a Wasbar in Antwerp.
The décor is cute and the atmosphere is very relaxed, a great place to chill, mingle with friends and… do your laundry. Not sure I want everybody to see my underwear„ especially my Spanx, but i might be tempted to wash a few dresses there, just for fun.
In a few weeks Wasbar will be serving more food and cakes, so I am looking forward to going back there soon.
