Having just arrived at the hotel, we were starving and didn’t want to search too long for a diner fare so we just headed downstairs. The burger was featured quite prominently on the menu, and at 20 euros I expected something nice. The piece of meat that came out was dry, textured like plastic and inferior in every respect to what you’d expect to find at McDonald’s. When quizzed, the waiter admitted that the meet was pre-cooked and reheated. The hotel was quite good but avoid the restaurant. or at least the burger.

We ate at the restaurant in the hotel on a Sunday night, and frankly, it looked pretty bleak since there weren’t too many other people eating. But the food was way better than I expected. I’m not sure it’s a destination in and of itself, but if you’re staying at The Dominican, there’s no reason you shouldn’t eat here. The menu generally skews toward«contemporary European» but straightforward fare. Around our table, one person had steak frites, another had fish, and another had a soup and an appetizer(I can’t remember). I had a braised rabbit with a sauce made from dried fruits(prunes and plums?) with a celery root purée. It was classically prepared… and delicious. I’d get it again in a heartbeat. We rounded it out with a couple of desserts: one, a chocolate cake of some sort and the other a fantastic panna cotta with passionfruit sauce. Both were delicious. I suspect I’ll be back on my next visit…

Surprisingly decent. Though the restaurant was fairly dead on Sunday and Monday nights, everyone in our party was impressed with the quality of their main dishes. Their dinner menu offered a fairly wide selection, I went for steak and frites(when in Rome do as the Romans do) and ended up happy. Wouldn’t make this a destination unto itself, but might as well go for it if you’re staying here. Minus a star for their fairly mediocre breakfast buffet.
