My wife and I walked into this empty restaurant during regular business hours, with their menu clearly advertised outside on a wooden chalkboard easel. We had the intention of ordering cappuccinos and deserts but were refused service by(who we assume to be) the owner. When we walked in we were completely ignored by the owner until we made a move to sit down. When he finally acknowledged us he asked us what we wanted before seating us. When we told him what we wanted we were rudely informed — with a dismissive hand gesture — that we could not be served at this time. He then went and sat back down in the corner. Don’t waste your time here. There are other places in town that will gladly have your business.

Hilarious little place on the edge of Damme — it’s right in town, but also across the street from a sheep meadow. There was an old couple who ran it, and they were the whole show, they did EVERYTHING — took your order, cooked, expedited, etc. So of course, with our party of 10, nothing came out at the same time, which was fine because… The back deck/patio is great on a sunny day. They appear to be a Leffe/Hoegarden shop, and you could do worse on draft. There was a list of sandwiches that she kind of yelled at me for ordering, I guess they weren’t available that time of month/day/year … Otherwise it’s pretty simple fare, pasta’s and croques and omelettes … the frites were perfect Belgian-style(though with heinz mayo packets, they tasted just fine to me). And it wasn’t too expensive, though cash only. Also Damme is a really cute little town, it’s worth biking from Bruges, even with little kids.
