Nottawasaga Inn

My date and I booked a couples getaway in a junior suite for Valentine’s Day (1 night). The check in was quick, the front desk staff was polite and helpful. Our suite was very clean and spacious.
The jets in our jacuzzi didn’t work at all. It was about 1 in the morning when we decided to give it a try so we figured calling to get it looked at would be a waste of time by that hour of the night. The fireplace smelled a lot like burning plastic so we shut it off. Especially after the fire alarm went off during our stay. We joked about it having to do with our smelly fireplace but it actually could have been for that reason, I’ll never know.
We had dinner in the Mahogany Room which was very upscale. The food was incredible, the menu diverse but the service was a little slow. We had to flag down the waitress three times to refill our beverages.
Breakfast in the morning was a disaster. We ate at the Riverview Room. A server took our order promptly but then told us that we would have a new waitress from that point on because her shift was ending. A new waitress came up about 10 minutes later to take our order again but we explained it had already been taken by the girl before. 35 minutes went by before anyone even looked our way again. A totally new waitress walked by the table and asked if we had been looked after. We explained our situation, she apologized for the confusion and got the manager. He came over and explained that the order was never placed during the switch over of waitresses and that he would personally place the order himself right away. He also informed the front desk to excuse us from being late to our check out time. We got our food shortly after. It was a decent breakfast, nothing to write home about. We didn’t have to pay for our food.
We didn’t get to check out much of the resort due to timing. There is much to do here though, especially if you come during the summer.
Overall the good experiences at the Nottawasaga Resort we’re in balance with the bad experiences leaving me with a «meh» attitude about the entire place. Nice resort. Bad food service.

Great place over all for conferences, but Internet sucked and kept dropping off, the air was supper dry and made everyone uncomfortable after staying there for 3 days and they had no fridges in their rooms! Their resturant that is called riverview has teribble food, but the waitresses are very friendly.
Their second floor bar is a great place to hang out after conferences. Check it out if u r staying there.

Terrible! My husband and I were there during the week and it was empty, the spa wasn’t open and it was very much like staying in a retirement home for a couple of days. Our room had a fireplace that was turned off for the season yet we paid for it when we booked the room, the room was sort of clean at best and the balcony outside was covered in spider webs. The first morning we decided to have breakfast at the restaurant on site and the waitress spilled an entire glass of apple juice down my top. I should mention I’m also 36 weeks pregnant and this didn’t go over well. Seeing as we were only staying for a couple of days I didn’t pack that many changes of clothes with me. We were also planning on going to Algonquin park that day so I needed that change of clothes because they were comfortable and I wasn’t going to hike around in maternity jeans –the pregnant mommas out there will know the value of yoga pants! The waitress was of course mortified so much so that she never came back to the table. Who else never came to the table you ask? The restaurant manager who saw it all happen and did nothing! Not an apology not even an acknowledgment that we were even in the restaurant at all. My husband ended up in the lobby to see if we could get my clothes cleaned either on site or somewhere else. The Inn refused to wash/​dry any of my clothes and didn’t offer any suggestions to help us at all. So back to the room soaked in juice I go to hand wash my clothes in the sink in the bathroom. The only drying option was the sad blow dryer on the wall that short circuited part way through the drying process. I abandoned the whole thing, changed my clothes and off we went to find a laundromat in town. So instead of spending the day in a relaxing way we wasted most of the day doing laundry which I could have done at home and not on what was supposed to be a relaxing get away with my husband and we never did made it to the park.
Now back to the state of our room. The bathroom was hilarious. If you turned on the shower the entire room got a shower because the shower head sprayed uncontrollably everywhere. Even the roll of toilet paper in the holder was soaked by the time we finished our shower. Also if someone nearby to your room decides to use their jacuzzi tub you knew it, it was so loud and you lost the hot water and water pressure in your room until they were finished.
The recreation facilities are in desperate need of upkeep. The mini golf is dark and dingy and the arcade area didn’t even look like it was in operation. All in all go somewhere else! Anywhere else. This place isn’t worth going to for free.

I didn’t get to make use of all the resorts facilities, as I was only there for a night for a wedding, so my review will only be based on what I did experience.
the room that my friends and I booked was spacious, and clean. I only wished that the shower pressure was stronger. i hate low flow shower heads. We also noticed that the wifi signal was very weak, if there was one at all. basically, no one was able to use the wifi.
Other that that I can only comment on the staff that was servicing the wedding. They couldn’t have been nicer or friendlier.

Love the new look and all the renovations. If u get a change to stay at the resort you should love how clean and big the rooms r and u got great food also.

Newly renovated, the inn makes a good place for conferences. The pool’s alright and the rooms are huge. Great staff make it a friendly place to be.
Be aware of you’re planning a wedding your reception might be right next to a youth hockey tournament though.

My Wife and I booked a pool and balcony room as we were attending a Wedding at this facility. To preface my comments, I would say that I am not a picky person when it comes to room luxuries, I just need a place to sleep. If you are looking for a clean, quiet, spacious hotel… this is the place to go. However if you are also looking for a RESORT with (immaculate or not) amenities and an ounce of customer service… you will not find it here!!!
During the Check in process we were told that we could not check in until 4:00pm. We were attending a 5:00pm Wedding booked at this facility (That they should have known about) and our booking actually was listed as a special room for that wedding (so they know that we are attendees). Most of us sat in the bar area, which was outside as the house bar was not open and anxiously awaited a call from the front desk stating that our room was cleaned and ready. Throughout the waiting process, there was not an employee that was sympathetic to our issues and did not offer any options as we waited. The front desk manager did not even look in our direction as we tried to check in and did the same as we check out. Never once did an employee come up to us and at the very least say, «hello» or «how are you». For those that appeared to be in management (indicated by having a name tag that said «manager» or «supervisor»), I had to approach them before I got any sense of hospitality.
The Wedding was outdoors and the reception was indoors. The wedding ceremony and reception was spectacular, but consistent to the customer service earlier, the banquet staffs were not any better.
My wife and I are not golfers however wanted to take advantage of the amenities. We were told that the resort had nature trails. We asked the front desk for the map however we did not get a starting point. As we walked around like tourist idiots holding a map, employees walked around us as if we had the plague. Upon asking some employees taking smoke break in the corner, they mentioned to us that they have never heard of nature trail. I guess when you are sneaking a smoke it is too hard to have a sense of courtesy.
After getting proper directions from the golf course refreshments stand attendant, we were finally on our way. Now as I mentioned, I am not a golfer, however I am an outdoors-​man. For most of the world, a nature trail is mostly nature. For a large percentage of the trail, I had trees on one side and posh homes on the other. Needless to say, I didn’t feel that I was in the woods. There were times that I got off the path, as the trail also borders the golf course. I would think that for the price that we paid to attend this facility and the green fees paid to play a round (sorry I don’t know the term used to play golf) you would think that they could afford a $ 20 sign that would point you to the actual nature trail and not lead you on to the course. Again my Wife and I were looking at this nature map that looks like a high school project, to find our way. All this time employees are zooming around us on golf carts as if we did not exist. Not until we were able to flag and employee down were we able to find our way. That employee also agreed with us that the map is not clear.
At the end of the trail, we ended up on a residential street. No sign exist at the end and we just use common sense and turned around and went back.
After returning from the nature trail we went to the mini golf course and video game area. The mini golf course was well put together and lots of fun, however the arcade was very dated. I saw games that I played as a kid and even saw some old Atari games. I don’t think it would be any fun for younger kids.
All in all, it met my needs… A place to sleep. If you want the resort experience you won’t find it here.
Also if you are booking for a Wedding, don’t mention that during the reservations. Everyone that just book paid $ 30 less than those who mentioned that they were attending the wedding. When I mentioned this to the front desk, I was told that sometimes discount just open up. The front desk manager that was standing next to this agent did not even lift her head to acknowledge my concern. Those that paid $ 30 less that everyone else booked at random times. My advice is to just book and don’t mention the wedding.
I would return again FOR A WEDDING. However I would never attend for a getaway nor would I recommend it to a friend.

The new lobby renovations look great.
I attended a wedding at the resort as a member of the bridal party and was blown away by the service we received from all the staff from the banquet manager to the room cleaning staff.
I would highly recommend the resort for a weekend stay, as the other guests also had nothing negative to say about their experience.

I was very disappointed … the only credit I could give them is the size of the resort. I do believe that it used to be very nice, but since I don’t think they’ve made enough profit, it makes it really difficult to keep up with latest trend in renovations.
The lobby is huge, but looks really dark. It has carpet all over the hotel, but it looks like they had these carpets since their grand opening. The elevator is at least 30 years old, no mirror in side, basically a plastic box. Lighting was very old fashioned as well, mostly natural lights or florescent lights. When we check-​in, we asked if our rooms are renovated, they said the entire hotel is undergoing renovations and industry norm, renovated rooms are usually $ 20-​$ 30 more… anyways, we decided to pay for the upgrade since we were only there for one night. We were so glad that we did, because we were still disappointed even we did the upgrade! oh dear… nothing special about the room… the finishing are still very old school… water pressure was so so … I will not recommend this place to anybody if they don’t have to stay here… probably better off just drive home if you live in GTA. Also this is a family type of resort, some other guests beside our room actually left their door open the next morning, and their kids were just running around between rooms in the hallway. It is actually quite annoying if you’re trying to sleep in.
We didn’t try out their other facilities… but the golf course looks really nice.

I was recently here for a corporate event over 4 days. Because of the expanse of my stay and broad use of the facilities I will break down my review into various sections.
The Rooms (²⁄₅ stars):
My room was slightly larger than many of the others I saw. It had a bay window though only a tiny portion of it opened and the view was of the beautiful parking lot. I’m sure my room was cleaned thoroughly before I arrived at it had an odour and there was a big black hair on the pillow when I pulled back the sheets. The bathroom looked to be recently updated within the last 5 years or so. The shower was like standing in front of a fire hose; one wrong move and you could easily lose an appendage.
The Staff (⁴⁄₅ stars):
The only portion of the staff that stopped my staff rating from being 5 stars was the dinner serving staff. Throughout my whole experience all of the staff I dealt with were excellent except for the ones serving dinner. One older lady in particular acted as if we were stealing her last precious moments away from spending them with her grandkids.
The Facilities (⁴⁄₅ stars):
The hotel has a sizable «recreation dome» attached to it. There is an 18 hole mini golf course, 3 in-​door tennis courts which can also be used for basketball, a pool with water slide and hot tub, 3 squash courts, and a gym full of weights and machines. Everything seemed to be in great condition and it was never too busy to be able to do what ever you wanted.
The Food (¹⁄₅ stars):
The only good food I had was the steak I ate on one evening, and even then, the rest of the meal wasn’t very good. The meals were slightly varied from day to day, but no meal stood out as any more mediocre than the next.
The Hotel (³⁄₅ stars):
The building and it’s décor are your classic hotel. The place has an older look and feel even though you can tell that some of the wallpaper is fairly new and certain carpeted areas have been updated.
